Elijah Farmer scored 18 points and Jaydian Johnson added 15 points,10 assists and six steals to lead the Red Raiders to a 75-70 victory over Franklin in the United Way Tip-Off Tournament on Saturday afternoon at McElrath Gymnasium.

The win improved Jamestown’s record to 6-1 heading into Friday’s nonleague home game against Lockport. Continued strong play up and down the lineup will make the Red Raiders tough to beat.

In addition to Farmer and Johnson, the other double-figure scorers for the hosts were Bishop Butts and Dom Gonzalez, who finished with 12 and 11 points respectively, while Greg Brumagin and A.J. Rodriguez chipped in with 8 points apiece to send the Red Raiders to their third straight victory.

The game was close throughout. Jamestown led 37-31 at halftime and 55-50 after three quarters. In the final period, Johnson took over, scoring 11 points to keep Franklin at bay.

Leading the way for Franklin were Terence Thompson, who poured in a game-high 32 points. Clarence Thompson added 17 and Shawn Goins chipped in 13.

NOTES: Jamestown’s home game Friday is a matinee, with the junior varsity tip at 1:30 followed by the varsity at 3 p.m. … In last Saturday’s jayvee game, the Red Raiders ran their record to 5-1 following a 64-20 win over Franklin. Hunter Johnson led Jamestown with 17 points and Jorge Rivera added 11.
