LETCHWORTH — Dylan Newman posted an unbeaten record to highlight the Falconer/Cassadaga Valley wrestling team’s performance in the Letchworth Duals this week.

Wrestling at 116 pounds, Newman finished 10-0, while teammates Evan Newman (108) and Gabe Lundmark (124) were 9-1.

Also noteworthy was the tight match the Golden Cougars — honorable mention in the state rankings by New York Wrestling News — had with Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Panama. In the end, Falconer/Cassadaga Valley prevailed over the top-ranked Eagles 38-36.

In their other matches, the Golden Cougars posted wins over Le Roy 57-18, Perry 53-16, Alexander 46-24, Dansville 48-21, Cal-Mum 42-25, Letchworth 44-24 and Morrisville-Eaton 45-27. Their losses were to No. 3 Canesteo-Greenwood 41-27 and No. 6 Pal-Mac 57-18.

Other individual records for Falconer/Cassadaga Valley were Charlie Reichenbach (152), 8-2; Patrick Braley (170), Javonte Hackett (190) and Hunter Caldwell (215), 7-3; Riley Best (145), 6-4; and Mason Kilmer (160), 5-5.
