Tarp Skunks Announce Hiring Of Julian As Field Manager
The Jamestown Tarp Skunks have announced the hiring of Ben Julian as the new field manager for the 2024 season.
Coach Ben Julian brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record in collegiate baseball coaching to the Tarp Skunks. With an impressive coaching career that includes leading the rival Auburn Doubledays to a 74-59 (.556) record over the last three seasons, including three consecutive playoff appearances, Julian will now call Jamestown home.
“Jamestown has a rich history in the NY-PLeague and in the PGCBL, and I hope to continue that legacy and add to the history for the generations that follow.” Julian said. “After playing in Jamestown as a visitor, I am really looking forward to experiencing the fans from the home side. The fans in Jamestown have always been some of the most passionate and knowledgeable fans in the league. Their energy is something that I look forward to the most.”
Prior to joining the Jamestown Tarp Skunks, Julian has held coaching positions throughout the PGCBL since 2016 as the head coach of the former Adirondack Trailblazers (Boonville Lumberjacks), assistant coach of the Utica Blue Sox, and head coach for the Auburn Doubledays. In addition to his work in the PGCBL, Julian has worked as the assistant coach at Mohawk Valley Community College, assistant coach at Utica College, and currently holds the head coaching position at St. Petersburg High School in Florida.
When asked about his goals for the upcoming season, Julian emphasized his dedication to bringing a championship back to Jamestown.
“I believe that bringing a championship back to Jamestown is the most important goal,” he said. “Obviously, we’re here to get the players better and help them improve in ways that allow them to compete at whatever level they are capable of, but winning is always the goal. To be able to celebrate a championship at Diethrick Park is the ultimate goal.”
The Jamestown Tarp Skunks general manager Christian Dolce is excited about having Julian in the fold.
“Our decision to bring Coach Julian on board reflects our commitment to elevating our team’s performance and providing a top-tier experience for our players,” he said. “We believe that Ben’s leadership and experience will propel the team to success in the PGCBL.”
Former Jamestown field manager Jordan Basile will transition into a recruiting and team advisory role after managing the Tarp Skunks to a 72-57 (.558) record over the last four seasons. Also joining the coaching staff as an assistant will be Zachary Crane, the current pitching coach at Hamilton College.
