Elizabeth Pucci-Schaefer did Thursday what she's done the entire season.
The Fredonia senior won the diving competition at the Section VI Championships at Steele Hall Natatorium on the campus of SUNY Fredonia with an 11-dive total of 554.05 points to easily claim the No. 1 spot.
Kayla Rejewski of Grand Island was a distant second with a state-qualifying 447.65-point total. Having already qualified for states, Frewsburg/Falconer's Elayna Pitts took third with a score of 439.55. Then Pucci-Schaefer's teammate, junior Leah Marsh, placed seventh with 414.50 points, after also qualifying for states at the county meet.
Not qualifying for states, but finishing strong was Anelia Pitts with 395.40 points and a ninth-place finish for the Frewsburg/Falconer.
Only divers qualified for states from the CCAA teams, but a few competitors placed in the top 10 of their events. Southwestern/Jamestown's Clarissa Hren took ninth in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:33.56, while Panama/Maple Grove/Clymer's Emery Watkins just missed in 11th with a time of 5:35.11.
Hren swam a personal best in the 200 freestyle with a 2:05.83 clocking, just behind Frewsburg/Falconer's Cara Pillittieri in 11th place at 2:04.18.
Addison Luce took 11th in the 100 freestyle for Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Brocton.
