WEEK 3
Northwest Arena hosted Week 3 of its Fall Backyard Curling Leagues sponsored by Dot’s Gift Boutique.
MONDAY 5:45 LEAGUE
Adam Irgang and Paul Sizle were the stars of the show for Legion of Broom. They contributed to the cause by defeating Brewster’s Bros 26-23 and Pepsi 1 32-16.
Want to Curl sure played like they did, only giving up 23 combined points on the evening. Mike Barber took charge in a 29-12 win over Girls with Stones. Darcy Cramer came through in a defensive 17-11 struggle with Fruit of the Brooms.
Blair Feichter and Nicole Holt got back in the groove as the pair combined forces to cruise past Shoeless Joe’s Pub 38-33 and CURL 40-23.
Gren’s Growlers acquired its first victories of the year behind Claire Tomassini and Jon Gren Jr. They started out by dismantling CURL 41-16 and proceeded by surviving Brewster’s Bros 30-25.
Steve Cramer and Fruit of the Brooms picked up the offense in their second match with Pepsi 1 48-21.
Chad Waddington rallied the troops as Shoeless Joe’s Pub took down Pepsi 2 27-22.
TRCurlers pulled out a gritty win against Girls with Stones 29-25 as Bruce Main was the primary factor.
The success was only sustained for a brief period, as Pepsi 2 got the best of TRCurlers (25-23). Dave Mitchner buckled down to help pull out a close one.
MONDAY 6:45 LEAGUE
Short & Curly remains unblemished thanks to Jaime Smith and Chris Conti. They fended off two worthy opponents, Honest Abe 38-29 and Snow Good at This 26-21.
Steve Arnold received high praise from his fellow Sour Pickles. He took control of the night in feats of the Pickle Pushers 40-30 and Dogman and His 3 Labs 35-32.
Steve Smith and Casey Ferry put the first two tallies in the win column for Frozen Fish. They did so by way of bringing down Dogman and His 3 Labs 27-24 and Team Auto Credit 26-20.
Honest Abe may have a rising star on their hands in Chris Fiasco. His dependable shooting helped get a win over Rock Slide 32-18.
They call it the battle for geological supremacy, a new, yet bitter rivalry. Jennifer Van Nauker was the first star as Rock Slide broke down Rock Blockers 29-19.
Lori Wilson took matters into her own hands following that, and those same Blockers picked up a win versus Team Auto Credit 30-23.
Nancy White and Pickle Pushers pulled off a dramatic, double-overtime victory over Snow Good at This 35-33.

WEDNESDAY 5:30 LEAGUE
Chris Maggio was the lone ranger that catapulted Head for the Mountains to a perfect night. He single-handedly brought down Golfers on Ice 46-28 and We’ve Got the Stones 24-20.
Autumn Bower-Mazzone and Ned Baudo anchored down the defense for Drunken Sliders. They made scoring difficult for Curling me Softly 25-9 and HALLFAW 25-11.
Henry James received key plays from Jake Berg and Shane Johnson. The duo constructed a 2-0 evening through wins over HALLFAW 38-22 and Golfers on Ice 33-27.
Joe Vitello lit a fire for the offense, as Curling me Softly turned things around against Hindy’s Hurlers 30-21.
Kim Hurley and Hindy’s Hurlers avoided a winless night by defeating J-1 Auto in OT 32-29.
Brian Rossey and We’ve Got the Stones acquired a 25-20 victory against Stone Cold Maidens.
Nate Ford and the Maidens flipped the night 180 degrees, after vanquishing J-1 Auto 20-13.

WEDNESDAY 6:30 LEAGUE
Jason Crowell and Dylan Runge pulled out close shaves for The Rolling Stones. They came out on the right side against Curls Gone Wild 24-16 and Perfect Stones 17-16.
Team No Names flew up the standings thanks to Cade Egan. His fine-tuned curling got the job done versus Rand Machine 29-28 and Curling Q’s 34-26.
Nick Kahanic and Steve Shelters carried the Brush Offs back to the .500 mark. They guided the squad to victories over Curling Q’s 26-13 and 12 oz. Curlers 16-11.
John Panebianco continues to be an all-star for Perfect Stones. He captained the ship to fend off Cold as Ice 38-28.
Cindy Fawcett and Curls Gone Wild annihilated Rand Machine 37-15.
In the House and Russ Bonfiglio were just able to keep their heads above the water with 12 oz. Curlers 16-8.
Adam Paterniti and Got Stones held on by the skin of their teeth with The Ice Men 30-29.
The Ice Men completely flipped the score and script to squeak by Cold as Ice 30-29.

WEDNESDAY 7:30 LEAGUE
Dot’s Men has yet to be touched by the competition. Rob Loll and Steve Chambers kept things rolling when matched up with Smokin’ Rocks 33-17 and The Flintstones 29-17.
Chris Dole, Eric Scolton and the 12 oz. Curlers are hot on the trail. They assembled a perfect night by moving Six Stones and a Stick 37-23 and Tota Toon 40-25 out of the way.
Axiom 1 notched their first two tallies in the win column. Josh Nelson and Ken Mark got the gears grinding for Axiom 1 to take down Flintstones 41-19 and Axiom 2 23-14.
Summer Wolcott and Curl Power won a defensive struggle with Ice & Easy 18-13.
Barney’s Hoof Trimmers witnessed greatness from Darren Anderson. He was scorching in their victory over Haggy’s Jr. Curling Crew 36-23.
Beth Hagglund and the Curling Crew avenged the initial loss by upsetting Six Stones and a Stick 25-18.
Troy Eklum and Smokin’ Rocks absolutely clamped down on Curl Power 23-8.
Ice & Easy and Kiersten Hansen picked up a much-needed victory against Barney’s Hoof Trimmers 19-15.
Tota Toon finally hit the jackpot thanks to Allie Courtney. They got their first win in dramatic fashion, defeating Axiom 2 31-30.
RYAN DEPPAS/LEGEND GROUP FRIDAY 4:30 LEAGUE
Seminar Group stayed atop of the division with another perfect night behind the game-winning stone from the veteran Rob White as they defeated On the Rocks 29-28 and the precision of Eric Maloney to capture their second game over Curl Jam 19-18.
Cold Beer Here continued their slide to the top with two more wins this week against the Bemus Sliders 32-25 and Premier Listings 28-24, as captain Steve Tanner steadied the ship for his team.
Tracey’s Dog went undefeated on the week, as they captured wins over The Chestnuts 42-40 and Sweeping Beauties 35-18, as Bob Paterniti and Nick Lucas showed their curling prowess.
Always Late brought in newcomer Liz Brewer to sneak out a thrilling 16-15 win over Sweeping Beauties, and Tina Howard wasn’t late to the party either as she also helped Always Late defeat the Sliders 21-16.
Sara Jones was on fire and defrosted Frost Bitten Twice Shy 41-39.
2 Curls & 1 Cup also chilled Frost Bitten with a 43-37 win, behind strong play from Jim Muntz.
On the Rocks knocked off The Chestnuts 34-30 behind strong play from Jenna Whitney and Sara Jacobson.
WEEK 4
Week 4 of Northwest Arena’s Fall Backyard Curling Leagues sponsored by Dot’s Gift Boutique gave fans all they could handle with the playoffs approaching.
MONDAY 5:45 LEAGUE
Andrew Wilsie put the rest of Pepsi 1 in his backpack on Monday night. He carried them to a perfect night versus Shoeless Joe’s Pub 41-18 and Girls with Stones 23-13.
Nicole Holp and Blair Feichter were able to elevate Curl Jam in the standings. They did a fantastic job of limiting scoring opportunities for Pepsi 2 29-11 and Girls with Stones 21-12.
CURL notched their first two victories of the year thanks to Amy Thompson and Michelle Richau, as they survived Legion of Broom 19-18 and Brewster Bros. 25-17.
Fruit of the Brooms remains in first place despite a loss in the evening. Norene Cramer was at least able to push them past Brewster’s Bros. 35-32.
Cecil Miller and Legion of Broom brought down TRCurlers 45-32.
The loss didn’t sit well with TRCurlers. Kevin Anderson regrouped everybody to breeze by Want to Curl 37-21.
Theresa Jackson and Shoeless Joe’s Pub pulled out a 23-16 barnburner over Gren’s Growlers.
Pepsi 2 escaped the grasp of Want to Curl 32-30 behind stellar shooting from Andy Benton.
Tim Bonner and Gren’s Growlers got back on track by upsetting Fruit of the Brooms 24-21. The Growlers look to turn the season around after a momentous win.
MONDAY 6:45 LEAGUE
Short & Curly remains the only untouched team through four weeks. Sam Stewart and Chris Conti combined forces to survive Rock Slide 23-17 and steamroll Team Auto Credit 44-18.
Sour Pickles is hot on the trail thanks to Jimmy “MVP” Sposato. He was automatic on the ice against Rock Blockers 38-21 and Rock Slide 43-14.
Honest Abe has quite the up-and-coming stars in Chris Fiasco and Jaime Glatz. Fiasco hit a game-altering shot to close things out with Rock Blockers 34-27. Glatz released the deciding stone in OT to crush the spirits of Frozen Fish 22-21.
Casey Ferry and Frozen Fish were able to shock the world by stunning Snow Good at This 27-23.
Scott Dibble and Snow Good at This responded nicely with a 34-23 win versus Dogman and His 3 Labs.
After four weeks, Dogman and His 3 Labs are no longer winless. Dan Bracey had to carry the load in a 27-25 classic with the Pickle Pushers.
Janet Calabrese corralled the Pickle Pushers to squeeze by Team Auto Credit 26-23.

WEDNESDAY 5:30 LEAGUE
Head for the Mountains remains in command of the leaderboard thanks to Jim Cama and Chris Maggio. They fended off Henry James 22-19 and stifled Drunken’ Sliders 25-11.
Mark and Liz Hinderleider continue to impress for Hindy’s Hurlers. Liz hit the game winner in OT to topple HALLFAW 33-31. Mark was the star of the show in taking down Golfers on Ice 29-22.
Dusty Carlson and Henry James edged out We’ve Got the Stones 36-33 in an instant classic.
Brian Rossey and We’ve Got the Stones are headed in the right direction after demolishing J-1 Auto 30-10.
Joe Vitello and Curling me Softly also picked up a solid victory over J-1 Auto 22-13.
Bob Drake was scorching for Golfers on Ice in a lopsided shootout with Drunken’ Sliders 52-34.
Kristan McMahon proved to be unstoppable as HALLFAW upended Stone Cold Maidens 42-24.
Julie Korban and Stone Cold Maidens responded nicely, as they defeated Curling me Softly 36-29 to split the difference on the evening.

WEDNESDAY 6:30 LEAGUE
It was far from pretty, but sometimes it’s simply a matter of getting the job done. Jaime Allenson and The Rolling Stones clamped down on Curling Q’s 19-8 and Team No Names 19-17.
Kevin Gastol was lights-out for 12 oz. Curlers. He navigated the way to a 2-0 night versus Cold as Ice 39-28 and Got Stones 25-22.
Jenn Swanson, Nick Kahanic and The Brush Offs are starting to put the pieces of the puzzle together. The pair curled their hearts out en route to beating Team No Names 19-13 and Rand Machine 21-14.
Chip Perkins and Curling Q’s were barely able to squeak by In the House 18-14.
Glenn Wilcox hit the clutch button to elevate Perfect Stones past Got Stones 17-14.
Ron “The Veteran” Pappalardo received high praise from In the House, as he piloted them to a 23-13 victory against Curls Gone Wild.
Ben Snow and Curls Gone Wild rebounded to take down Cold as Ice 35-25.
Dan Challingsworth and Rand Machine were on the right side of a 26-25 nail-biter with The Ice Men.
Paul Gustafson took the loss to heart as a member of The Ice Men and used that as fuel to hit the game winner against Perfect Stones to record the 20-17 victory.

WEDNESDAY 7:30 LEAGUE
Steve Chambers and Rob Loll continue to be a dangerous combination for the opposition. The Dot’s Men have yet to be defeated. They took down Tota Toon 28-20 and Ice & Easy 30-23.
12 oz. Curlers are right behind them thanks to Eric Scolton and Ryan Short. The dynamic duo showed no mercy after cruising by Barney’s Hoof Trimmers 29-17 and annihilating Haggy’s Jr. Curling Crew 45-10.
Troy Eklum and Jason Britt assembled a solid outing for Smokin’ Rocks. It started with a 14-10 defensive struggle with Axiom 1. That was followed by a 44-25 walloping of The Flintstones.
Crystal Surdyk turned the season around for Axiom 2. She caught fire in both wins versus Ice & Easy 21-19 and Six Stones and a Stick 32-21.
Michele Petrishen stepped up to the hack nicely for Six Stones and a Stick. She was the key factor in their 27-19 defeat of Curl Power.
Barney’s Hoof Trimmers narrowly escaped Curl Power 20-18 with Brent Anderson answering the call.
Beth Hagglund and Haggy’s Jr. Curling Crew acquired a 28-25 victory against Axiom 1.
Brandon Rowley and The Flintstones gained some momentum in their 28-21 win over Tota Toon.
RYAN DEPPAS/LEGEND GROUP 4:30 FRIDAY LEAGUE
Cold Beer Here took over first place and remained undefeated with a convincing win over previously unbeaten Seminar Group 40-20 and then handled Frost Bitten Twice Shy 24-20 behind the stellar play of Bruce Moore and Bill Lawson.
Climbing into second place is Tracy’s Dog, as the duo of Nick and Katie Lucas took care of business by sweeping On the Rocks 30-21 and the Seminar Group 37-26.
The Chestnuts scratched out a 34-33 nail-biter over 2 Curls & 1 Cup as Mary Rappole was her team’s top curler.
2 Curls & 1 Cup bounced back in their second game as they narrowly defeated On the Rocks 23-22, as Buddy Watson showed his curling prowess.
Adam Johnson came off the IR this week and slid Curl Jam to a 27-24 double-overtime victory over Premier Listings.
Premier Listings opened up their night with a 35-27 win over Sweeping Beauties as Sara Jones was her team’s first star.
