BRADFORD, Pa. — The Wednesday Travel League held its fourth major of the season, the “Frank Borowski Invitational,” named after its league founder, at Pennhills Club.

Josh Hilliker successfully defended his 2022 crown after shooting the low round of 78. Bob North finished second, one stroke back with a 79. Jeff Nelson finished third with an 81.

Hilliker and Seb McAfee tied for the low front nine with 38s. North led the back nine with 37. Hilliker now has three career major victories, including two this season. The win was also his league-best 10th tour victory this year.

Carter Crabtree, competing as an amateur, became the youngest golfer in league history at just 10 years old. Crabtree, the grandson of the league’s top point earner, Tom Sacilowski, shot 104 to take seventh place in the D Flight.

Joining Hilliker as flight winners were Tom Destro (B), Ryan Thompson (C) and Wayne Ormsby (D). The winner of the Bruce “Java” Chrabasz Commissioner’s Award was Dan Kaszuba.

Untied birdies were recorded by: A Flight — Dave Franklin (No. 4), Hilliker (No. 9), North (No. 15) and Nelson (No. 18); B Flight — Doug Grace (No. 6), McAfee (Nos. 8, 9), Destro (No. 10), Mike Willoughby (No. 17) and Mike Wolfe (No. 18); C Flight — John Waterman (No. 1), Sacilowski (No. 4), Ryan Thompson (No. 13), Mick Dunning Sr. (Nos. 14, 17) and Gary Richardson (No. 16); D Flight — Kaszuba (No. 1), Tim Walawender (Nos. 4, 11), Don Kujawa (No. 6), Gary Haase (No. 8), Gary Hazelton (No. 9) and Phil Hopkins (No. 18).

Closest to the pin were Dave Momberger (No. 2), Grace (No. 6), Ron Szach (No. 11) and Dunning (No. 17). Winners of the Steeplechase were Hilliker (A Flight), Dave Criscione (B), Bob Thompson (C) and Hazelton (D). Winners of the par-3 contest were North (A Flight, even), Criscione and Wolfe (B, plus-2), Szach (C, plus-2) and Walawender (D, plus-2).

Top point winners were Grace (60), Dunning (40) and McAfee, Szach and Walawender (30 apiece). Season points leaders (through 21 events): 1. Sacilowski (413), 2. Wolfe (361), 3. Hilliker (360), 4.
