Falconer, Southern Tier Brewing Are Battle Champions

Falconer Central Schools (1305.50 points) won the Large Division title while Southern Tier Brewing/Distilling Co. (1,293 points) placed first in the Small Division in the 35th annual YMCA Battle of the Businesses, which ended Saturday.
The Battle was sponsored by Highmark Bluecross BlueShield of Western New York, Greater Chautauqua Frederal Credit Union and Eventz by Scott.
The first-place results of the final-day competitions held Saturday at the Richard O. Hartley Park in Lakewood listed by the Large then Small Division team winners are:
2-Mile Run: The Resource Center, Jamestown Bar Association/Southern Tier (tied)
Corn Hole: Bush Furniture, Jamestown Macadam Inc.
Sur”Y”vor Challenge: SKF Aeroengine, Rehabilitation Specialists/CES/PUMC
Scavenger Hunt: Chautauqua County Government/The Resource Center (tied), Rehabilitation Specialists
Build-a-Boat: SKF Aeroengine, Chautauqua Hospice & Palliative Care/The Chautauqua Center
Mystery Event (flip cup bonus event): SKF Aeroengine, Jamestown Macadam Dunk-a-Boss (bonus event): Cummins, Jamestown Macadam
The YMCA Battle Team Spirit Award was awarded to UPMC Chautauqua (Large Division) and Jamestown Macadam (Small Division) while the YMCA Battle Team Captain Award were given to Heather Courtney of The Resource Center (Large Division) and Lauren Wakelee of Southern Tier (Small Division).
The Battle coordinator staff would like to thank the following event venues for their valued participation: Village of Lakewood Richard O. Hartley Park, City of Jamestown Bergman Park and Jones and Gifford Park, Jamestown Bowling Company, Northwest Arena, Maplehurst Country Club, Lakewood Golf Center and Hills Hatchet Hotel.
Besides an overall applause to several volunteers who assist with this annual event, a special recognition is appreciated from The Post-Journal Sports Department, Lakewood Mayor Randall Holcomb with trustee Nancy Jones, Tom Pilling and Officer Calimeri, Jamestown Container for the cardboard donation and Starbucks for saving milk jugs for the Build-a-Boat competition.
