Southwestern Boys, Girls Claim Large School Titles At Falconer

FALCONER — Southwestern swept the boys and girls Large School School Division team titles; and the Randolph boys and the Portville girls captured Small School Division crowns at the Golden Falcon Track & Field Invitational on Friday at Bill Race Field.

For Southwestern’s boys, Declan Kennedy won the boys 110-meter high hurdles (16.55) as the Trojans finished with 124 points. For the girls, Emma Lewis won the girls 3,000 meters (10:49.81) and teammate Faith Hamilton was named the girls Outstanding Field Athlete after capturing the shot put title (33-4) and taking second in the discus. The Lady Trojans finished with 99 points.

Jaiden Huntington was a double-winner for the Cardinals with victories in the shot put (48-5) and discus (140-6) on his way to being named the boys Outstanding Field Athlete. Teammates Roan Kelly won the 1,600 meters (4:35.91), Talon Rowland captured the 400 meters (50.02) and Caden Inkley claimed the pole vault (12-9) as Randolph finished with 158 points.

East Aurora’s Addie Miller won the girls 100-meter high hurdles (16.77) and the Lady Blue Devils also took the 3,200-meter relay (9:35.96) on their way to a total of 97 points as a team — just two back of Southwestern’s girls in the Large School Division.

Portville’s girls finished with a winning total of 110 points followed by Randolph (65) and Clymer/Sherman/Panama (64).

Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Brocton was second in the boys Small School Division with 109 points. The Thunderbirds won the 400-meter relay in 45.27 seconds.

Allegany-Limestone was third in the girls Large School Division with 86 points. The Gators’ Angelina Napoleon was named the girls Outstanding Track Athlete after winning the 2,000-meter steeplechase (6:32.81), 1,500 meters (5:10.09), 800 meters (2:11.94) and high jump (5-4).

Frewsburg took third in the boys Small School Division with 89 points. The Bears’ Landon Stormer was named the boys Outstanding Track Athlete after winning the 100 meters (11.01) and 200 meters (22.04).

Frontier was fourth for the girls Large School Division with 77 points. The Falcons’ Lea Philarom won the long jump (15-9) and triple jump (33-3.5).

Falconer/Cassadaga Valley was third in the boys Large School Division with 64 points, led by Jase Smith’s win in the long jump (20-11).

Falconer/Cassadaga Valley’s girls were fifth in the Large School Division with 64 points, led by Hannah Madonia’s victory in the 400-meter intermediate hurdles (1:10.60) and the Golden Cougars’ winning time of 52.26 seconds in the 400-meter relay.

Other boys event winners included: Frontier’s Cameron Bogdan in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:40.54), Dunkirk’s Michael Hanlon in the 400-meter intermediate hurdles (59.14), Quanyay Thomas in the triple jump (41-1) and the Marauders’ winning time of 3:32.36 in the 1,600-meter relay, Allegany-Limestone’s Alex Redeye in the 800 meters (1:59.85) and Joshua Nolder in the high jump (5-11) and East Aurora’s Shane Fraser in the 3,200 meters (9:51.70).

Other girls event winners included: Jamestown’s Madison Burgess in the 100 meters (13.09) and 200 meters (26.24), Portville’s Jenna Wyant in the 400 meters (59.84) and the Panthers’ winning time of 4:14.77 in the 1,600-meter relay, Eden’s Annabelle Koszelak in the discus (104-6), and Randolph’s Corinne Inkley in the pole vault (10-0).

BEARS SHINE AT

PIONEER INVITE

YORKSHIRE — Landon Stormer and Cody Kent won two events apiece to help the Frewsburg boys claimed a third-place finish at the Pioneer Invitational on Saturday.

Stormer captured the 100 meters (11.10) and the 200 meters (22.15); and Kent captured the 3,200 meters (10:32.06) and the 3,000-meter steeplechase (10:04.90) as the Bears finished with 90 points.

Juvenal Diaz-Cortes placed first in the 1,600 meters (4:34.01) and second in the 800 meters (2:01.82); Zayne Cline won the high jump (5-6); and Brandon Devereaux placed fourth in the pentathlon (1,585 points).

Hamburg claimed the team title with 144 points, Pioneer was second with 93, three points ahead of the Bears.

Meanwhile, the Frewsburg girls finished 10th as a team with 19.5 points.

Grace Lennon placed fourth in the 100 meters (13.15) and fifth in the 200 meters (28.23); and the 400-meter relay of Olivia Hallenbeck, Brionna Dumaine, Sopheia Nelson-Bennett and Lennon placed fifth (54.97).

In the long jump portion of the pentathlon, Gracie Conlan was second with a leap of 4.63 meters.

Williamsville North captured the girls team title with 115 points, 10 more than second-place Hamburg.
