Propheter Has Big Day, Jamestown Plays To Tie With Chautauqua Lake/Westfield

MAYVILLE — Jamestown’s Ella Propheter threw a 5-yard touchdown pass to Marley Drake with 28 seconds remaining and Propheter ran in the 1-point conversion run as the Red Raiders tied Chautauqua Lake/Westfield 19-19 in girls flag football Wednesday.

Chautauqua Lake/Westfield opened the scoring in the first half when Erma Wolcott threw a 59-yard touchdown pass to Paige Zarpentine.

Jamestown tied the game on a 29-yard scoring strike from Propheter to Drake.

Chautauqua Lake/Westfield regained the lead on a 52-yard run by Wolcott. The Thunderbirds converted extra point on a Wolcott-to-Alina Franklin pass.

Chautauqua Lake/Westfield’s Alex Reyda then returned an interception 64 yards for a touchdown to make it 19-6 at halftime.

Karynne Mims ran for a 7-yard touchdown to open the second half before the Propheter-to-Drake connection tied the game late.

Propheter finished the game completing 13 of 17 passes for 173 yards and two touchdowns; Drake collected seven receptions for 127 yards and two TDs; Mims rushed 13 times for 56 yards and caught five passes for 46 yards and a touchdown. Propheter also rushed for 51 yards on 10 carries and had an extra-point conversion. Defensively, Propheter had five tackles and an interception. Teammate Quinn Johnson was credited with five tackles as well.

Wolcott had 10 flag pulls and Zarpentine had nine for Chautauqua Lake/Westfield.
