CCAA Sending Three To States

Ecklof, Wintersteen, Spacciapolli Qualify

COLLINS — Three golfers from the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association are heading to the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Girls Golf Championships.

Jamestown sophomore Nilla Ecklof turned in a fifth-place score of 90, Cassadaga Valley/Maple Grove eighth-grader Jocelyn Wintersteen tied for sixth place with a score of 92 and Fredonia junior Juli Spacciapolli fired a ninth-place total of 96 at the Section VI state qualifier held Monday at Gowanda Country Club.

Clarence finished in the top-three spots, led by Kylie Dean with an 80. Rosalie Dinunzio had an 81 and Tatiana Tutko had an 85.

Lancaster’s Adrianna Pliszka was two strokes better than Ecklof with an 88.

Lancaster’s Kayla Buczkowski tied Wintersteen for sixth and Clarence’s Emily Morelli was eighth with a 93.

The alternate is Williamsville North’s Cate West, who shot a 97.

Fredonia freshman Sydnee Hoffman missed being the alternate by one stroke with a 98 after falling to West on the second playoff hole.

Cassadaga Valley/Maple Grove junior Lauren Jasinski shot a 108, Jamestown junior Avery Salvaggio had a 110, Fredonia senior Lauren Cerrie fired a 130 and Fredonia senior Emerson Bramer had a 135.

The state championships will be held Saturday, June 3 through Monday, June 5 at The Edison Club in Rexford. Saturday will feature a practice round before competition rounds Sunday and Monday.

Kennedy Swedick of Section II Albany Academy is the defending champion. She shot an even-par 144 over two days last year. Section I was the team sectional champion.
