NORTH COLLINS — The defending Section VI Class D softball champion Westfield Wolverines picked up right where they left off, rolling past North Collins 11-0 in a nonleague contest to start the season.

Haleigh Dellow resumed her dominance in the circle with a nine strikeout, two walk and one hit performance through four innings for the Wolverines (1-0). Eva Gnadzinski took over for Dellow in the final inning and struck out the side while allowing just one walk.

Westfield had no problem putting runs on the board as Tanleigh Bestine had three hits, including a home run and had three RBIs; Dellow also hit a home run, singled, walked and scored three times; Gnadzinski had two hits and scored; and Drew Ernewein hit a double and a single with an RBI.

North Collins’ only hit came in the first inning off the bat of Jaylee Jimerson. Sophia Vanstrom took the loss in the circle for the Eagles (0-1) after allowing 12 hits, 11 runs and striking out two.
