Beaver, Pence Are Co-Players Of The Year In CCAA D1 West

Reece Beaver and Kyra Pence have been honored as co-Players of the Year for Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 West girls basketball.

Beaver, a junior, averaged 22.5 points, 5.0 assists, 3.5 steals and 3.0 rebounds per game en route to leading the Trojans to a Section VI Class B2 championship.

Pence, a senior, averaged 16.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, 5.6 assists and 4.8 steals per game en route to leading the Cardinals to a league championship, Section VI Class C title and Far West Regional title as well as a spot in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association championship game.

Dunkirk’s Quinn Bankoski was named the league’s Coach of the Year for leading a turnaround that saw the Marauders win 10 games overall and four games in the league just a season after going 1-19 overall and 0-10 in the division.

Randolph’s Skylar Herington and Payton Morrison were named to the league’s First Team. Herington, an eighth-grader, averaged 15.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.4 steals and 2.4 assists per game, while Morrison, a sophomore, averaged 13.5 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 3.1 steals per game.

Southwestern junior Madi McIntyre was also named to the First Team after averaging 11.7 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.0 assists per game.

Olean senior Leah Williams (20.6 ppg, 10.9 rpg) and Allegany-Limestone senior Madison Callen (17.0 ppg, 13.0 rpg, 3.0 spg) rounded out the First Team.

Dunkirk senior Anadallane Rodriguez, Southwestern senior Kira Ricker, Olean senior Jezerae Fayson, Southwestern sophomore Bella Sirianni and Randolph sophomore Quinn Pence made up the Second Team.

Allegany-Limestone earned the Team Sportsmanship Award with Callen the Gators’ Individual Sportsmanship Award winner. Other Sportsmanship Award honorees included: Fayson, Southwestern’s Faith Hamilton, Randolph senior Katelyn Storer, Dunkirk’s Emily Pacheco and Fredonia junior Ella Koopman.

Honorable-mention all-stars included: Dunkirk junior Molly DiCara and senior Alyssa Salerno; Koopman; Olean senior Olivia Kratts and junior Amy Campbell; Storer; and Southwestern junior Lauren Cotter.
