No. 16 Jamestown Holds Off Frontier 60-40 In ECIC Div. 1 Action

HAMBURG — Jamestown completed a regular-season sweep of Frontier on Tuesday night with a 60-40 Erie County Interscholastic Conference Division 1 basketball victory.

The Red Raiders (12-2, 7-0), playing the first of three games this week, broke open a tight contest at half by outscoring the Falcons 21-9 in the third quarter.

“In the first half, we created quite a few turnovers, but didn’t finish at the other end,” Jamestown coach Ben Drake said. ” … Frontier played pretty well, (using) a pretty good half-court defense. We made a nice run in the third quarter and finally finished our fastbreak and we made a few 3s.”

Sean Paige led the Red Raiders with 13 points, five assists, four steals and four rebounds; and Trey Drake and Darius Freeney both had 10 points.

The Falcons (5-9, 1-7) were led by Nate Errington with 16 points and Brian Woods with 11.

Jamestown returns to action Thursday when it travels to Clarence.

The Red Raiders also won the junior varsity game, downing Frontier 63-47.

Elijah Farmer had 27 points for Jamestown.
