WILDCATS HOLD ON FOR WIN

CLYMER — The Sherman Wildcats led the Clymer Pirates through most of Tuesday’s rivalry game in Division 2 West.

However, Clymer kept clawing back and even had a chance to take the lead late in the game, but Sherman managed to hold on for the 53-47 victory.

“This was a typical backyard rivalry game,” Clymer head coach Dave Bodamer commented. “Both teams played very hard and nobody quit. Sherman basically led the whole game and at times it was double-digits, but the girls kept fighting and working and at one point late in the game we had a chance to tie or take the lead.”

Hayden Fisher was on the money for Sherman as she led with 23 points, dished six assists and had three steals; Paige Gratto scored 13 and had three steals; and Leighanne Swan collected 12 rebounds and Tayden Persons grabbed 11 boards.

“Hayden Fisher was deadly tonight,” Bodamer added. “She came off screens and hit jumpers, hit open threes and went hard to the hold. She also had some timely buckets.”

Clymer’s effort was led by Alexy’s Neckers with 18 points, nine rebounds and three steals; Aurora Ordines also scored 18, assisted three and had two steals; Natalie Johnson had 11 boards and two blocks; Abby White had seven boards and three assists and Makenna Woods grabbed six boards.

“We struggled offensively in the first half and in the second half Aurora Ordines kept us in the game with some tough drive and hitting four threes,” Bodamer said. “Then Alexys Neckers started knocking down shots when we went on a run to get ourselves back in the game.”
