Jones Leads Salamanca To Class D Championship

CHEEKTOWAGA — During the regular season, Salamanca won the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 3 boys bowling title by two points over Genesee Valley.

On Thursday, with their Section V counterparts not involved, the Warriors added a Section VI Class D championship.

Quinton Jones finished 13th overall to lead Salamanca to games of 818, 998 and 921 in the morning followed by games of 920, 883 and 1,083 in the afternoon as the Warriors finished with a total pinfall of 5,623 — more than 150 better than second-place Falconer at Airport Lanes. The Warriors were fifth in Division II.

Jones rolled a 200-234-191-232-213-228-1,298; Corey Gebauer, who smashed a 285 in his final game of the day, opened with a 167-180-200-191-180 to finish with a 1,203; Dylan Ingersoll spun a 202-200-193-213-175-191-1,174; and Cole Urbanski added a 147-205-201-147-175-188-1,063 for the Warriors.

Fredonia finished second in Class C and Division II with a 1,055-1,019-897-1,110-950-906-5,937 to place 27 pins behind first-place West Seneca East. Zack Kawski, who cracked a 279 in his fourth game and took 14th overall, led the Hillbillies with other games of 227, 204, 160, 196 and 224 for a 1,290 series. Owen Rush spilled a 224-187-150-243-234-184-1,222; Kyle Berkshire had a 242-199-225-186-181-150; Brady Helmer drilled a 167-195-191-223-151-205-1,132; and Nate Manzella had a 195-234-171-179-188-143-1,110.

Falconer, which was second in Class D and seventh in Division II, finished with a 1,019-959-905-834-902-852-5,471. The Golden Falcons were led by Damen Vincent’s 198-193-209-167-199-188-1,154, Javier Gonzales’ 223-178-192-172-191-171-1,127, Brayden Scott’s 221-201-193-179-178-140-1,112, and Nic Houston’s 193-159-182-167-177-170-1,048.

Jamestown was ninth in Class A and 14th in Division I with a 1,076-976-886-844-847-759-5,388.

Jack Christensen paced the Red Raiders with a 198-216-228-176-188-147-1,153, Vincent Parasiliti had a 198-191-150-211-184-207-1,141, Marco Lobello cracked a 226-177-180-167-214-172-1,136, Hadyn Walker had a 274-202-211-173-136-127-1,123 and Diesel Cowan had an 835 series.

Maple Grove was third in Class D and ninth in Division II with a 965-960-932-919-787-785-5,348. The Red Dragons were led by Keegan Rishel’s 213-179-199-254-189-179-1,213. Carter Rishel added a 225-210-215-170-125-178-1,123, Adam Brisky had a 170-234-223-141-169-177-1,114, Logan Crist hurled a 201-169-169-206-166-132-1,043 and Brennan Moore had an 855 series.

Cassadaga Valley took fourth in Class D and 11th in Division II with a 941-835-797-889-881-874-5,217. Calvin Hilliker led the Cougars with a 218-149-171-205-240-224-1,207, Hayden Carr had a 238-188-180-171-189-162-1,128 and Jeremiah Phillips rolled a 195-203-176-192-149-188-1,103.

Forestville finished sixth in Class D and 13th in Division II with an 803-786-824-902-802-857-4,974. Brayden Smith took 17th overall with a 223-229-213-202-202-203-1,272. Aydon Heim spun a 135-114-187-216-170-188-1,010, Troy Muck had a 940 series, Tyler Waugh threw a 910 set and Tucker Merritt had an 842 series for the Hornets.

Clymer/Sherman took seventh in Class D and 14th in Division II with an 825-817-743-853-800-871-4,909. Hunter Bogert led the Wolves with a 186-179-200-182-156-205-1,108, Carson Faulkner had a 159-156-146-176-166-243-1,046, Max White cracked a 149-158-176-203-202-155-1,043 and Dayton Hosier had a 913 series.

Gowanda was eighth in Class D and 16th in Division II with a 733-742-792-765-842-720-4,594. Drew Shull led the Panthers with a 178-179-200-142-168-183-1,050, Nicholas Smuda rolled a 156-193-185-135-175-160-1,004 and Gavin Whitcher had an 852 set.

Frontier took the overall and Class A titles with a 1,064-1,098-1,065-1,110-960-1,079-6,376. Joining the Falcons at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Championships at Strike N Spare Lanes in Syracuse on Friday, March 10 through Sunday, March 12 will be Starpoint’s Nick Brady (252-236-289-223-222-213-1,435), Niagara Falls’ Aiden Strack (269-223-259-248-199-206-1,404), Grand Island’s Talon Newton (256-256-234-204-206-198-1,354), Williamsville South’s Lane Marlatt (236-247-258-216-181-213-1,351), Kenmore’s Jake Willard (235-245-234-206-201-203-1,324) and Grand Island’s John Coram (216-179-247-225-232-214-1,313).

West Seneca East won the Division II and Class C titles with a 1,050-1,052-1,000-1,068-917-877-5,964. Grand Island was the Class B champion with a 1,004-999-1,020-1,002-1,046-910-5,981.
