PANNES SHOWS THE WAY

Matthew Pannes continued his outstanding season, pouring in 31 points, and collecting five rebounds and five assists to lead Southwestern to a 61-52 victory over Olean in a Division 1 West game.

The Trojans (9-7, 4-3) led 31-22 at halftime and limited the Huskies (7-10, 1-6) to four points in the third quarter.

Griffin Bogdanowicz added 9 points and six rebounds, and Paul Hayes and Jaydon Work both had 8 points for Southwestern. Teammate Cameron Lemk chipped in six boards and two steals.

Jack DeRose led the Huskies with 19 points and Thomas Bates added 13.

PORTVILLE — Drew Hind poured in 23 first-half points to lead five players in double figures as Randolph downed Portville 82-45 in a Division 1 East game.

Hind finished with 26 points, including six 3-pointers, and three steals; Carson Conley added 15 points and three steals; Griffin Nelson chipped in 15 points, six rebounds and six assists; Jaiden Huntington collected 12 points; and Tristen Farnham had 10 points. Owen Nelson dished out eight assists and added six boards.

WARRIORS DOWN GATORS

SALAMANCA — Lucus Brown recorded his third double-double in his last four games and Salamanca ran its record to 14-2 with a 54-42 Division 1 West victory over Allegany-Limestone.

The Warriors (7-0 in the division) led 32-31 after three quarters, but went on a 22-11 in the final period to complete a regular-season sweep of the Gators (13-3, 4-3).

Brown finished with 27 points, 10 rebounds and two steals, and Andy Herrick chipped in 15 points and eight boards.

Gavin Truman paced Allegany-Limestone, which trailed 23-9 at halftime with 16 points.

“To hold them to 9, that’s the best defense we’ve played since I’ve been here,” Salmanca coach Adam Bennett said. “They’re a solid team, they’re well-coached, they run good stuff and we just played outstanding defense in the first half.”

The Gators outscored Salamanca 22-9 in the third quarter and led by a point late in the period, but the Warriors played “outstanding” the rest of the way, according to Bennett.

BEARS WIN AGAIN

SINCLAIRVILLE — Connor Murray scored 19 points, Gavin Smith added 18 and Zack Carr chipped in 13 to lead Frewsburg to a 69-48 Division 1 East victory over Casssadga Valley.

The Bears (12-4, 7-2) jumped out to an 18-6 lead after the first quarter, but the Cougars clawed back in it to trail 49-43 heading into the final period. Frewsburg, however, put the game away by finishing the game on 20-5 run.

Carr also had five assists and five rebounds; Connor Murray collected five steals; and Caleb Stahlman grabbed five boards for the Bears.

Cassadaga Valley (5-13, 1-9) was led by Hunter Johnson with 23 points and Ace Pierce had 10.
