Red Raiders Honored In Class A
First-Team O’Brien, Second-Team Drake Among Six Recognized

Jamestown's Trey Drake and Sean O'Brien earned Section Class A1 postseason hardware in late November.
On Wednesday, they were honored on a statewide level.
O'Brien, a senior linebacker, was named to the Class A First Team and Drake, a senior quarterback, was named to the Second Team as the New York State Sportswriters Association released its large school all-state teams.
Drake, the Class A1 Player of the Year, completed 175-of-295 passes for 2,486 yards and 28 touchdowns this season while being intercepted just four times. In his Red Raiders career, the North Dakota State University commit, threw for 6,158 yards and 72 touchdowns to rank in the top 20 in state history.
O'Brien, the Class A1 Defensive Most Valuable Player, amassed a school-record 213 tackles, including 39 for a loss, recorded six sacks, intercepted a pass, forced a fumble and defended 13 passes this season. Among his highlights were a 24-tackle performance in a win over Niagara Wheatfield and a 22-tackle effort in Jamestown's Far West Regional loss to Hilton.
Jamestown junior running back Carsen Bane was named to the all-state Fourth Team after rushing for 1,162 yards and 16 touchdowns on offense while accumulating 117 tackles, seven sacks, an interception and a fumble recovery on defense.
Red Raiders senior wide receiver Darius Freeney was named to the Fifth Team after catching 48 passes for 855 yards and 12 touchdowns while fellow wide receiver, sophomore Carson Panebianco, was named to the Sixth Team after catching 45 passes for 741 yards and eight touchdowns.
Jamestown's junior kicker, Ella Propheter, was an honorable-mention selection after making 54 point-after kicks.
Section I Somers senior quarterback Matt Fitzsimons shared the Class A Player of the Year award with Section VIII Garden City senior all-purpose/running back/defensive back Stevie Finnell.
O'Brien was joined on the First Team by fellow Section VI student-athletes Dorian Facen Jr., a senior wide receiver from Williamsville East, and Jermaine Atkins, a senior defensive back from Kenmore West.
Drake was joined on the Second Team by Jordan Theodore, a senior linebacker from Sweet Home.
Junior quarterback Noah Willoughby of South Park was named to the Third Team along with Williamsville North senior running back Kendal Donovan and Caleb Nicholas, a senior defensive back from Amherst.
Williamsville East senior quarterback Sean Sansone and McKinley sophomore linebacker Tyrone Hughes joined Bane on the Fourth Team.
Clarence senior kicker Zach Campana was named to the Fifth Team and South Park senior wide receiver A.J. Watts was named to the Sixth Team.
Honorable-mention selections included Williamsville South senior wide receiver Daniel People, Clarence senior lineman Kayden Hensley, Williamsville North senior lineman Evan Locke, Amherst senior lineman Patrick Tan and Frontier junior linebacker Rob Kibler.
In Class AA, Bennett senior lineman Rashad Perry shared the Player of the Year award with St. Anthony's senior quarterback Dante Torres.
St. Francis senior running back Ricardo Kidd, Bennett senior wide receiver Jayden Lewis and Bennett junior defensive back Jameer Thomas were named to the First Team.
Bennett junior defensive back Aaron Roseboro was named to the Second Team along with St. Francis junior lineman Marcus Harrison and senior lineman Balaam Miller.
Third-Team selections included Lancaster senior running back Micah Harry, Orchard Park senior wide receiver Dylan Evans, Lancaster senior lineman Tommy Carlsen and Bennett senior lineman Xzavier Goodman.
Bennett junior lineman Darell Hamilton was named to the Fourth Team.
Orchard Park senior quarterback Ben Gocella was named to the Fifth Team.
The Sixth Team included Lancaster junior kicker Cannon Converse.
Honorable-mention selections included Bennett senior quarterback Antonia Davis III, Orchard Park junior kicker Justin Moeller, Orchard Park senior punter Brody Stevens, Lancaster senior linebacker Sam Judasz, St. Francis sophomore quarterback Steve Otremba and St. Francis senior wide receiver Logan Reaska.
