Joslyn, Ohlsson Lead Thunderbrids To Victory At Patrick J. Morales Tournament

FALCONER — The Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Panama/Clymer boys wrestling team had seven top three finishes at the Patrick J. Morales Tournament to take home first place with 242.50 points, just beating out Corry (Pa.) with 234.

Jordan Joslyn and Martin Ohlsson stood out for the Thunderbirds, securing first-place victories. Joslyn pinned Lake Shore’s Blake Hageman to win at 126 pounds, while Ohlsson grinded out a 3-0 decision over Corry’s Will Allen in the 132-pound final.

Earning second-place finishes for the Thunderbirds were John Watson at 152 pounds, Mason Maring at 189 pounds, Ison Shirley at 215 pounds and Gavin Segovia at 285 pounds. Gavin Burchanowski also made the podium for the T’Birds with a third-place finish at 102 pounds.

Corry (Pa.) had the most first-place finishes with three, as Steven Willis, Logan Hodak and Mason Savitz.

Falconer/Cassadaga Valley finished in third place with 205 points and was led by Austin Chase claiming first-place at 145 pounds as he earned a 5-0 decision over Bradford’s Jordon Thompson in the final. Dylan Newman claimed second for the Golden Cougars at 102 pounds, coming up short in the final to Hamburg’s Trevor Dellapenta. Finishing with a win for the Golden Cougars was Karsen Lundgren at 110 pounds and Brodie Little at 160 pounds as both took third-place.

Southwestern came in fourth at 156 points as six wrestlers finished in the top four. Kenji Walters took second at 110 pounds, while Tavio Hoose was runner-up at 172 pounds and Carmine Calimeri earned third at 118 pounds.

Randolph came in ninth-place, powered by a first-place finish from Ryan Carpenter at 285 pounds as he pinned Segovia at 1:29 in the final. At 138 pounds, Domanik Clark took second-place, losing to Pioneer’s Xander Kirsch in the final.

Maple Grove finished in 15th, but still saw a wrestler rise atop the podium. At 189 pounds, Matt Trim earned a huge 19-4 technical fall over Maring.

Jamestown finished 13th and was led by a third-place finish from Cole Bloomquist at 132 pounds.
