Brink Scores Career High In Panama Win Over Southwestern

PANAMA — Mandy Brink scored a career-high 35 points to go along with 10 rebounds, eight assists and four steals to send Panama past Southwestern 68-54 in nonleague girls basketball Tuesday.

Brink scored 13 points in the first quarter as the Panthers (11-4, 7-0 CCAA D2 West) build a 21-14 lead. The Trojans (9-4, 3-1 CCAA D1 West) clawed back into the game with a 12-7 second quarter to trail by just two at halftime.

Panama led 40-35 after 24 minutes before Brink helped put the game away with 15 points in the fourth quarter as she went 10 for 10 at the foul line.

Kaitlyn Horton added 15 points and eight rebounds; Kylie Morgan had 12 points; and Hannah Schauman had four rebounds and two assists for the Panthers.

Reece Beaver led Southwestern with 21 points; Maddie McIntyre had 12 points and 13 rebounds; Kira Ricker had 10 points and four assists; and Braya Beaver had two steals.

“They are a decent team,” Panama head coach Dennis Hinsdale said. “We played really good defense.”

FREWSBURG — Four different girls scored during a 13-2 third quarter as Randolph pulled away from Frewsburg for a 53-46 nonleague victory.

Skylar Herington led the Cardinals (9-4, 4-0 CCAA D1 West) with 19 points to go along with three steals; Kyra Pence had 10 points, six rebounds and three steals; Katelyn Storer had 8 points and seven rebounds; Payton Morrison had three assists and two steals; and Quinn Pence had five steals and four assists.

Jadyn Trocki led the Bears (3-10, 1-3 CCAA D1 East) with 18 points and four rebounds; Taytum Jimerson had 13 points, six steals and three assists; and Teghan Trocki had three steals and three assists.
