SHERMAN — In the first half the Sherman Wildcats girls basketball team struggled to contain Falconer’s Dani Krenzer. Krenzer hit four 3-pointers in the second quarter to build a 24-20 halftime lead for the Golden Falcons.

In the second half, Sherman made the adjustment of putting Paige Gratto on Krenzer defensively. That decision completely stymied the Falconer offense and allowed Sherman to power to a 48-31 nonleague victory on Thursday night.

The Wildcats (3-0, 1-0 CCAA West 2) pulled away in the fourth quarter, scoring 18 points with four 3-pointers and Hayden Fisher benefiting the most scoring 7 of her game-high 19 points in the final frame.

Fisher collected 10 rebounds for a double-double and added three assists; Tayden Persons grabbed 12 boards; Gratto finished with 12 points, seven rebounds and three assists; and Leighanne Swan had seven rebounds.

Krenzer finished the game with 18 points and two steals to lead Falconer (2-2, 0-0) and Kayla Lynn grabbed eight rebounds.

CROUSE LEADS WAY

SALAMANCA — Karina Crouse led a balanced attack with 18 points as Salamanca downed Cattaraugus-Little Valley 56-20 in a nonleague game.

Lezly McComber added 10 points and Makenzie Oakes chipped in 9 for the winners, who improved to 2-1.

The Warriors led 15-8 after the first quarter and 24-14 at halftime. They broke the game open after the break, outscoring the Timberwolves 32-6.

Onalee Osgood paced Cattaraugus-Little Valley (1-3) with 8 points.
