Swanson Powers Wolverines To 4-1 Win

BROCTON — Carson Swanson was a part of every Westfield/Brocton (4-5-0, 3-2-0) goal in the Wolverines’ 4-1 win over North Collins (2-4-1, 1-4-0) in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Central Division action at Brocton Central School on Monday.

Swanson scored the first of his two goals in the fourth minute on an assist from Isaac Stoughton and then found the back of the net again in the 22nd minute from Aiden Covert. Between his two goals, he assisted Thayne Bodenmiller and then had the helper on Mikail Lawrence’s tally in the 52nd minute.

RED DRAGONS TOP BEARS

FREWSBURG — Thanks to three second-half goals Maple Grove defeated Frewsburg in Central Division action 4-2.

The Red Dragons (7-2-1, 5-0-0) benefited from two goals by Jonah Foley and then tallies from Eli Moore and Steven Whitman. Earning assists were Matt Trim, Trey Demink and Moore twice.

Frewsburg’s (4-3-2, 2-2-1) Lucas Eckman scored both of the Bears’ goals with assists from Zack Carr.

GOLDEN COUGARS BLANKED

PORTVILLE — Portville scored two goals in the first 15 minutes to beat Falconer/Cassadaga Valley (5-5-1, 3-2-1) 2-0 in East Division action.

Brady German opened the scoring in the fourth minute and then later assisted Michael Cole in the 13th to give the Panthers (7-3-1, 4-1-1) a 2-0 lead.

CARDINALS DOMINATE

SALAMANCA — Cooper Freeman scored a hat trick as Randolph (8-3-0, 4-2-0) shut out Salamanca/Cattaraugus-Little Valley (0-10-0, 0-6-0) 6-0 in East Division play.

Griffin Nelson potted the other two goals and added two assists, while Ryder Smith scored the other goal. Brendan Good set up two goals and both Freeman and Peyton McClune had one each.

EAGLES BEAT PANTHERS

ELLICOTTVILLE — Sam Edwards scored three goals as Ellicottville dominated Gowanda/Pine Valley 8-1 for an East Division win.

Maddox Johnson and Owen Doherty also collected two goals for the Eagles (6-2-1, 5-1-0) while Bryan Grundy had one goal. Assists came from Edwards, Johnson, Doherty, Grundy, Emmett Jacobson-Coolidge, Tosh Klein and Aiden Harrington.

The Panthers (1-8-0, 1-5-0) lone goal came from Brandon Yoris assisted by Noah Frontuto.

TROJANS WIN BIG

WEST ELLICOTT — Southwestern was led by three goals from Connor Young en route to a 7-0 victory over Dunkirk (1-8-0, 0-5-0) in West Division action.

Nolan Froah, James Pirrello, Kole Lyon and Gavin Ternullo each found the back of the net as Southwestern (8-3-0, 5-1-0) earned the league victory.
