Salamanca Finishes Strong Against Allegany-Limestone

SALAMANCA — Jesse Stahlman’s 3-yard touchdown run with 18 seconds left in the third quarter put Salamanca up for good en route to a 28-6 Class C South victory over Allegany-Limestone on Friday at Veterans Park.

Tayoni Galante’s 6-yard touchdown run for the Warriors (2-1, 1-0) was the only score of the first half.

The Gators’ Anthony DeCapua then returned a punt 71 yards for a score, but Allegany-Limestone (0-3, 0-2) failed its point-after try and the game was knotted at 6-all.

After Stahlman’s touchdown run to end the third quarter, Maddox Isaac scored on a 44-yard run and Stahlman scored on an 11-yard run in the fourth quarter.

Stahlman finished with 124 yards rushing and Isaac added 66.

Michael Frederick completed 10 passes for 59 yards for the Gators while Isaac completed seven for 74 yards for the Warriors.

Stahlman was in on seven tackles, including one-and-a-half for a loss while Arlen Newark was in on five-and-a-half and Jaxon Tarr was in on five.

BLACK KNIGHTS CRUISE

SILVER CREEK — Silver Creek/Forestville averaged 10.7 yards per carry and scored five rushing touchdowns en route to a 48-6 Class D victory over Cattaraugus-Little Valley.

Gavannie Kuppel ran three times for 127 yards, including touchdown runs of 38 and 79 yards as the Black Knights led 41-0 after the first quarter. David Barrett added touchdown runs of 7 and 9 yards, Christian Borrello ran for a 10-yard touchdown, Matt Woleben threw a 31-yard touchdown to Alex Galfo and Jake Szumigala recovered a fumble for a touchdown for Silver Creek/Forestville (2-1, 1-0 Class C South).

Devin Henderson ran for 47 yards and a touchdown for the Timberwolves (0-3, 0-2 Class D).

CHEEKTOWAGA RALLIES

CHEEKTOWAGA — Cheektowaga scored 24 points unanswered in the second half to rally past Falconer/Cassadaga Valley/Maple Grove in Class B2 action 30-14.

Dalton Caldwell rushed in a touchdown and returned an interception for a touchdown to go along with a pair of Brailyn Paladino extra pointers as the Golden Cougars built a 14-6 lead at halftime.

That lead vanished quickly when Cheektowaga opened the second half with an 80-yard kick return for a touchdown. The Warriors managed the next two scores as they kept the Golden Cougars off the board en route to the 30-14 win.

Caldwell finished the game with 73 yards on 21 carries, Matt Welsh added 45 yards on seven carries and Cam Bower had 21 yards on six carries. Through the air, Lucas Sopak was 11 of 22 for 127 yards, Welsh hauled in five catches for 49 yards and Caldwell caught three passes for 32 yards.
