Jamestown CC Sweeps Thunderwolves In WNYAC Action

In a Tuesday night Western New York Athletic Conference battle, the Jamestown Community College volleyball team took care Niagara County CC, needing three sets to do so.

The Jayhawks (9-7, 8-2 Region 3) jumped out to an early lead in the first set of action and steamed to a 25-19 win. In the second set, Jamestown CC carried the momentum over to earn the 25-12 victory. In the final set, the Thunderwolves battled early on but the Jayhawks came soaring back to win 25-16.

Jamestown CC shared the offense attacking, having three players with 10-plus kills. Outside hitter Emma McCarthy (Olean/Allegany-Limestone Central) led the offensive attack with 11 kills with middle hitter Rian Finch (Randolph/Randolph Central) and right side Claire Pumford (Jamestown/Jamestown High) each collecting 10 kills. Setter Madison Johnson (Panama/Panama Central) kept the offense on track, coming away with 36 assists.

On defense, outside hitter Mikala Einink (Clymer/Clymer Central) had 16 digs with libero Sydney Ulasewicz (Allegany/Allegany-Limestone Central) and Pumford each chipped in with nine digs.

The Jayhawks will be back in action this Saturday as they take on Corning CC, Tompkins Cortland CC, and SUNY Broome CC at the Niagara County CC POD. Action will start at 10 a.m.
