There is no doubt that there are some talented pitchers in the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association softball leagues.

Standing out from the crowd is Fredonia sophomore Jordan Lucas and Westfield junior Haleigh Dellow. Both Lucas and Dellow led their respective teams to league titles and then Section VI championships.

Lucas and Dellow were both recognized as First Team all-stars in their respective leagues and now the honors keep coming. Both pitchers were named to the 2022 All-WNY softball small school First Team as voted by the coaches.

Lucas led Fredonia from the circle, pitching the Hillbillies to a Class B2 sectional title — Fredonia’s first since 2015. On the way to the sectional title, Lucas held a 0.66 ERA, limited opposing hitters to a .122 average, then when she stepped up to the plate she hit .400 and slugged .627.

Dellow adds to her list of accomplishments in the banner season with the Wolverines, already claiming the CCAA Division 2 West Player of the Year award and earning a spot on Class D all-state First Team.

North Collins catcher Hailey Jasinski joins Lucas and Dellow on the All-WNY small school First Team. Jasinski hit a whopping .712 with 42 hits, 33 runs, 23 RBIs, 32 stolen bases and seven home runs. In the field, Jasinski was just as good, registering 98 putouts on 101 chances and she posted a perfect fielding percentage. Jasinski adds the All-WNY First Team to her Class D all-state First Team nod.

Maple Grove shortstop Erin Mansfield also earned a All-WNY small school First Team nod after another strong season with the Red Dragons. The Class C all-state Third Teamer had a .553 slugging percentage and only struck out three times in 47 at-bats.

The top individual player was Depew sophomore sensation Mia Vannelli as the All-WNY Player of the Year and Lancaster senior Madi Balk was named the All-WNY Pitcher of the Year.

Earning Coach of the Year was Kelly Ambrose from Lancaster and Dan Seelig from Depew.
