Tarp Skunks Post 9-6 Victory Over Elmira On The Road

ELMIRA — Jack Davis collected two hits and drove in a pair of runs, and Eli Shedd worked five innings to pick up the win as Jamestown downed Elmira 9-6 in a Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League Western Division game Sunday before an announced crowd of 2,999.

Davis, Yogie Hartigan and Brandon Lane (double) all had two hits; Cody Bey added a triple; and Hartigan and Derek Benzinger drove in a run apiece for the Tarp Skunks, who smacked 11 hits to help raise their record to 2-0 in the division.

JoeMuzio collected three hits, including a double, for the Pioneers (0-3), who trailed 5-0 after the top of the fourth inning.

Tucker Fenton, Connor DeMoss and Eric Crouse were used in relief, with Crouse working the final two innings for the save. Shedd, the starter, scattered three hits, walked four and struck out five in his stint on the hill.

Ethan Errera took the loss for Elmira after yielding five runs and three hits during his four innings on the mound.

Jamestown, a half-game behind first-place Utica (3-0), will be back in action at 6:30 tonight when it entertains Newark (0-2) at Diethrick Park.
