SANBORN — The Western New York Athletic Conference has announced the 2022 All-WNYAC baseball teams with six Jamestown Community College players receiving honors.

For the Jayhawks, redshirt-freshman pitcher Bryce Jackson (Jamestown, N.Y./Jamestown HS), redshirt-freshman first baseman Yordangel Gonzalez (Miami/Miami Jackson Senior HS), and shortstop/pitcher Nate Johnson (Lakewood, N.Y./Southwestern HS) all received First Team All-WNYAC honors. Outfielders Wyatt Hennessy (Mukwonago, Wisconsin/Mukwonago HS), Billy Harmon (Racine, Ohio/Southern Local HS) and Ayden Reagle (Bemus Point, N.Y./Maple Grove HS) received Second Team honors.

Jackson was once again the go-to man on the mound, accumulating a record of 4-4 in nine appearances including one save. He had an earned run average of 2.23 and struck out 57, good for 11.57 strikeouts per nine innings. Jackson’s ERA dropped 0.47 from a year ago while also giving up fewer runs, earned runs and bases on balls.

Jackson eclipsed the 100-strikeout mark for his career, striking out a career-high 13 batters in a 7-0 season-opening win against Westmoreland County CC. Jackson’s performance earned him the NJCAA Region 3 Player of the Week. He had one other double-digit strikeout performance on the season, striking out 12 Onondaga CC batters to get the win in a 1-0 game.

Another highlight on the season for Jackson came in a crazy 13-12 win over SUNY Broome CC, coming into the game in the top of the seventh inning for the save opportunity. The right-hander shut down the Hornets offense and struck out two to preserve the victory.

Gonzalez took a big jump this season at the plate, collecting 36 hits, 17 extra-base hits, a batting average of .356 and an on-base-plus slugging percentage of 1.029 while driving in 27 runs. He had a monster game in a wild 13-12 win over SUNY Broome CC in the second game of a doubleheader, going 4 for 5 and driving in seven runs to help ignite the Jayhawks offense.

Later that season against the Hornets, Hennessy went 3 for 5, including two home runs, in the first game of a doubleheader. In the field, Hennessy had a fielding percentage of .953 with 37 putouts on 43 attempts.
