Southern Tier All-Star Classic

WESTFIELD — NorthLake Family Recreation Center will be the site for the Southern Tier All-Star Classic soccer match on Saturday, June 11 at its 16-acre sports complex at 38 Nichols Ave. in the village.

The event will feature 44 of the finest female high school players from Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Allegany, and Steuben counties as recognized by the area coaches following the 2021 season.

Players from the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association will comprise the Western Division team while players from Allegany and Steuben conferences will comprise the Eastern Division team.

The next player profiled is Tyra Clark of the Western Division team. Below are highlights from her soccer resume:

THE CLARK FILE

Tyra Clark

A sincerely dedicated scholar athlete, Tyra discovered “the beautiful game” at age 5, instantly found a love for it, and has excelled in it ever since. Introduced to soccer in the Randolph Youth Program, she played modified in grades seven and eight for the Cardinals and was moved to the varsity in grade nine. Playing for the Cardinals as a freshman and sophomore, Tyra recorded 24 goals and four assists. Transferring to Frewsburg in 2020, she recorded 27 goals and 11 assists during her junior and senior years with the Bears.

Recognized as a CCAA East Honorable Mention in 2018 and a CCAA East First Team All-Star in 2019, Tyra was selected as a CCAA Central Division First Team All-Star and a First-Team All-State player in 2020 and Central Division First Team, Fourth Team All-State, and Honorable Mention All-WNY in 2021. A member of the Frewsburg Bears Section VI champions in 2020 and 2021, she has also been a member of Frewsburg Soccer Club for three years. Tyra will attend Gannon University in the fall, majoring in criminal justice and playing with the Golden Knights.

A four-sport athlete (soccer, football, basketball and softball), she is also an honor student, holding a 3.8 gpa.

Tyra would like to thank her coach, Scott Stone, for believing in her, pushing her to become an even better soccer player and always just being there for her during her two years as a Frewsburg Bear.

THE HULTBERG FILE

A junior at Frewsburg Central School, Alexandra has proven her capability in academics as well as athletics as she is an honor student, a member of the National Honor Society, has been recognized as a Scholar Athlete, and is honored to be a part of Sources of Strength at FCS.

She embarked on her soccer journey at age 5 in the FAYS program and has loved the game since. After playing modified soccer in seventh grade at FCS, Alexandra was pulled up to varsity in eighth grade. Beginning as a defender, she has developed into a central midfielder where she now plays. Recording 23 goals and 14 assists during 2018-20, she scored 19 goals and assisted on 13 in 2021.

Recognized as CCAA Offensive Player of the Year, Post-Journal Player of the Year, a First Team All-State selection and a Second Team All-WNY selection in 2020, Alexandra was also chosen CCAA Offensive Player of the Year, Post Journal Player of the Year, Second Team All-State, and Second Team All-WNY in 2021. She was also selected to the NYSW Olympic Development Program State Team in 2019.

Helping her Frewsburg Bears to three straight sectional titles in 2019, 2020 and 2021, she has been a member of the Frewsburg Soccer Club for six years with her teams winning division titles in the Southern Tier Travel Soccer League in 2015-19; also winning the NYSW Champions Conference division title in 2021.

Alexandra projects a promising future in her academic and athletic endeavors for years to come.
