Southwestern senior Dontae Hoose, second from left, was the recipient of the 27th Ilio DiPaolo Award at a scholarship awards dinner at Ilio DiPaolo’s Restaurant in Blasdell on Monday night. A two-time Section VI wrestling champion and a Post-Journal all-star, Hoose was presented the award, which goes to a scholastic senior wrestler who “supports the value of family, education, athletics and community.” Hoose finished his career with a 127-38 record and has a 97 academic average. He is the second member of his family to win the award, joining his brother Giuseppe, who was the 2018 recipient.
