Chautauqua Lake Rowing Sends Two Boats To John Bennett Regatta

The Chautauqua Lake Rowing high school team sent two boats to the annual John Bennett Regatta last Saturday on the Black Rock Canal in Buffalo. On a cool, sunny day the regatta was faced with strong winds blowing at 16 mph steady, gusting to 25 mph. Fortunately, the gusting winds were partially across the Black Rock making for somewhat challenging, but still rowable conditions. The crews present were the novice boys 4+ and novice girls 4+. Novice boys consisted of Noah Miles, Jameson Sauder, Kenneth Marsh, Nate Laurin and coxswain Stella Hren. The novice girls boat included Zoey Shimmel, Stella Hren, Abby Cama, Kaitlyn Swan and coxswain Braley Lachner. Both crews participated in the time trial races to determine participants in the finals. Although neither boat was able to advance, both crews had their best times of the young season. For additional information on the CLRA HS Team, see the club website at www.rowchautauqua.org.
