Underclassmen Gnadzinski, Schumaker Shine For Westfield
WESTFIELD — Freshman Eva Gnadzinski threw a five-inning one-hitter in her first career start as Westfield blanked Brocton 20-0 in nonleague softball Monday.
Gnadzinski struck out nine and walked two while allowing just a bloop third-inning single to the Bulldogs’ Joie Wisecarver.
Eighth-grader Mackenzie Schumaker paced the Wolverines’ offense with two hits, including her first career home run in the third inning, and drove in four runs while also scoring four runs.
Haleigh Dellow doubled and drove in two runs while Gnadzinski and Cassidy Phillips each had a single and two RBIs.
Brocton (0-2, 0-1) pitchers combined to walk 17 Westfield (4-0) batters.
