The next player profiled is Jacquie Nickerson of the Western Division team. Below are highlights from her soccer resume:

THE NICKERSON FILE

Jacquie will graduate from Maple Grove High School in June and continue her education and soccer career at Mercyhurst University with the Lakers. She will study forensic/criminology, continuing the Ortolano family legacy in law enforcement.

Jacquie embarked on her soccer career at age 5 with BAYSO and played with the club for 12 years, benefiting from the coaching of Rich Carlson, Debbie Daniels, Cindy Saxton and Lou Gollando, rounding out her club career with Northwest Wave and Venn Blakely and Bruno DelSorbo. Three years at Lakewood Y with Coach Debbie were included.

She was called up to the Red Dragons as an eighth-grader for playoffs in 2017 and has been a defensive starter ever since. An important part of the Section VI champs in 2017 and 2018 and runners-up in 2019, Jacquie was selected a first-team all-star, Post-Journal All-Star, and Central Division Defensive Player of the Year in 2019 and 2020. She was a second-team all-star as a senior in 2021 and a captain her final two years.

A multi-sport athlete, Jacquie has also played softball since seventh grade, called up for playoffs in eighth and ninth grade. Making varsity in 10th, she was selected a second-team all-star in 2021.

Academically, Jacquie has been on the honor roll every term and has been selected as a Scholar Athlete in both sports several times; and is a finalist for Maple Grove for 2021 Scholar Athlete of the Year for Section VI.

Volunteering with her Cheer Starz Club and at her church is normal for Jacquie and she has participated in walks to fight hunger and support local soup kitchens and Breast Cancer Awareness.

Heart and dedication describe Jacquie’s life as she gives only her best for her church, her family and her commitments. Can’t wait to see her play at the next level.
