Simon Davis Leads Fredonia To 15-1 Victory Over Gators
ALLEGANY — Simon Davis went 4 for 4 with four runs scored and three stolen bases as Fredonia scored in every inning but the second during a 15-1 six-inning Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 victory over Allegany-Limestone on Friday.
Owen Rush threw a complete-game four-hitter with eight strikeouts for the Hillbillies (4-1-1, 3-0).
Matt Cash hit three doubles, drove in a pair of runs and scored three runs; Trevor Persch had three RBIs; and Micah Davis drove in two runs for Fredonia.
Micah Davis had an RBI groundout and Persch hit an RBI single during a two-run first inning for the Hillbillies. In a three-run third, Micah Davis had an RBI single before Owen Ludwig’s two-out, two-run single. Fredonia scored three more runs in the fourth inning. Cash doubled and Simon Davis singled before Gabe Schrader walked to load the bases. Rush and Persch followed with sacrifice flies before Nathan Sercu hit an RBI single. Cash’s second double preceded a Gabe Schrader RBI groundout in the fifth before Sercu’s RBI groundout and two-run double from Cash highlighted a six-run sixth for the Hillbillies.
Maddox DeLong’s double was the lone extra-base hit for the Gators (4-3, 1-2).
SOUTHWESTERN
JUMPS ON JAMESTOWN
LAKEWOOD — Lucas Gilbert had two hits, including a triple, and three RBIs as Southwestern beat Jamestown 15-6 in Division 1 action at Packard Field.
The Trojans (2-2, 1-1) led 4-0 after two innings and 8-1 after three.
Aidan Kennedy doubled and drove in two runs for Southwestern. Dustin Hendrix and Gilbert combined on a five-hitter with six strikeouts on the mound.
For the Red Raiders (1-2, 0-2), Brandon Lobb had two hits, including a double, while Colin Melendez and Juan Matos also doubled. Mason Chapman, Lobb and John Torres Jr. combined on a seven-hitter with six strikeouts on the mound.
SMUDA SHUTS DOOR FOR GOWANDA
GOWANDA — John Smuda threw 3 2/3 innings of shutout relief, allowing two hits while striking out three as Gowanda beat Olean 6-3 in Division 1 action.
The Panthers (5-1, 3-0) led 3-0 early before the Huskies (1-1, 1-1) tied the game with a three-run fourth inning.
Gowanda regained the lead with a run in the fifth and tacked on a pair of runs in the sixth. Tyler Smith led off with one of his two hits on the day and scored on a Cole Herman RBI single.
Gavin Phillips went 2 for 4 with a double and two runs scored while also throwing the first 3 1/3 innings for the Panthers, striking out four while allowing just one hit. John Ondus also had a hit and two RBIs in the win.
Ethan Sumcinski, Aaron Vencent and Thomas Bates each had a hit for Olean.

SWEET GO DEEP
NORTH COLLINS — Matthew Warsaw went 3 for 4 with a home run and four RBIs as North Collins beat Randolph 11-1 in Division 3 play.
Matthew Sweet added a home run and two RBIs; Walter Ebersole had two hits and an RBI; and Derek Ebersole had two hits and two RBIs for the Eagles (1-3, 1-3).
Asher Parnitzki allowed one earned run in five innings while allowing six hits and striking out three.
“We played really tough defense behind Asher today,” North Collins coach Scott Gill said.
Dillon Schrader had two hits, including a double, and Kyle Senn also had two hits for the Cardinals (1-2, 0-2). Payton Slade and Tristan Farnham combined to strike out nine on the mound.
BIG FOURTH INNING IS KEY FOR C/S/P
WESTFIELD — Clymer/Sherman/Panama used an eight-run fourth inning to down Westfield 14-4 in Division 2 play.
Austin White, Bryce Hindale, Kurtis Olson, Ian Dunnewold and Tate Cananese each had an RBI during the fourth-inning uprising by the Wolfpack (3-0, 2-0).
Gabe Roth threw three innings and struck out six while allowing just one hit to pick up the win for C/S/P.
Danny Bratton had two hits for the Wolverines (0-4, 0-3).
BACELLI
SHINES ON MOUND
SALAMANCA — Salamanca led 8-0 after five innings and held on for an 8-4 East Division victory over Ellicottville at Veterans Park.
Shawn Bacelli threw six innings of one-hit ball, striking out seven and walking three for the Warriors (5-3, 2-1). Andy Herrick had a pair of hits and two RBIs while Harley Hoag doubled and Jaxson Ross tripled.
Hunter Smith doubled while Evan Bauer and Owen Chudy each singled for the Eagles (3-3, 2-1).
