An afternoon watching their child wrestle can be a stressful occurrence for any parents.
When two children are wrestling — possibly at the same time — it turns into divide and conquer.
Joe and Johneen Hoose might need a support system this afternoon at Jamestown Community College.
The Hooses will have three of their sons competing for trips to Albany at the Section VI Division II state qualifier at the college’s Physical Education Complex.
Senior Dontae Hoose is the No. 1 seed at 215 pounds after capturing the Section VI Class C/D crown a week ago at Eden High School with a 10-3 victory over Wilson’s Xavior Fitzgibbon. Dontae, carrying a 32-1 record on the season, finished sixth at 195 pounds at the 2020 New York State Public High School Athletic Association Championships.

Eighth-grader Tavio Hoose is the top seed at 172 pounds with a 35-4 record on the season. Tavio also won a Class C/D title last week at Eden with a 7-1 decision over Randolph senior Luke Pagett.
Sophomore Neves Hoose is the No. 4 seed at 160 pounds with a 24-7 record. Neves beat Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Panama sophomore Jayden Malecki 3-1 for a Class C/D championship last week at Eden.
Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Panama’s Jordan Joslyn is the No. 1 seed at 118 pounds, entering today’s tournament with a perfect 36-0 record on the season. A sophomore, Joslyn won the Class C/D crown last week to help lead his team to the sectional championship.
Maple Grove senior Luke Tomlinson is the No. 1 seed at 145 pounds, taking a 38-1 season record into today’s action. Also a winner at last week’s Class C/D tournament, Tomlinson’s only loss this season came at the hands of Williamsville North/East’s Cameron Catrabone in the final of the Linda Knuutila Memorial Tournament. Catrabone is the No. 1 seed in today’s Division 1 state qualifier at Starpoint High School.
Southwestern’s Carmine Calimeri and Pagett are No. 2 seeds among local athletes.

Burchanowski, a junior with a 34-5 record on the season, lost in the final bout of the 132-pound weight class last weekend to Newfane’s Aiden Gillings, who is the No. 1 seed today. Clark, also a junior for the Golden Cougars, is 26-14 on the season after losing to Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Panama’s Bradley Smith in the 145-pound third-place match in Eden.
