BUFFALO — Dawson Russo took first place at 172 pounds to lead Fredonia/Silver Creek/Brocton/Forestville to a sixth-place finish at the Section VI Class B Championships on Saturday at CSAT Middle School.

Russo beat Pioneer’s Logan Ellis 11-6 in the final to give the Hillbillies 75.0 points.

George McNaughtan was F/SC/B/F’s next-best finisher, with a third-place showing at 160 pounds after pinning Royalton-Hartland/Barker’s Jaeyden Robinson in 3:56.

Lucas Hoffman took fifth place at 118 pounds for the Hillbillies, pinning Maryvale’s Jacob Striejewske in 2:45.

Ian Woods (172 pounds) and Dominick Collazo (285 pounds) both took sixth for F/SC/B/F. Woods dropped a 10-6 decision to Cheektowaga’s Matthew Adair and Collazo was beaten 3-0 by Royalton-Hartland/Barker’s Andrew Hill.

Issiah Ruiz turned in Dunkirk’s best performance to lead the Marauders to a 12th-place showing with 46.0 points.

Ruiz earned a 13-3 major decision over Iroquois’ Joshua Pfeiffer.

The Marauders’ Jimmy Bautista placed fourth at 189 pounds after dropping a 2-1 overtime tie-breaker to Royalton-Hartland/Barker’s Zack Hill.

Jordin Bautista took sixth at 189 pounds as he sustained an injury and lost a medical forfeit to Cheektowaga’s Michal Kalisz. Conner Jakubowicz was also sixth for Dunkirk, suffering a pin in 1:44 to Albion’s Angel Cruz-Cruz.

Iroquois and Pioneer were crowned Class B co-champions after both finished with 216.5 points. Albion was third with 144.5 points followed by Royalton-Hartland/Barker (100.5), Lackawanna (81.5), Fredonia/Silver Creek/Brocton/Forestville, Lewiston-Porter (69.0), Cheektowaga (66.0), Lake Shore (62.0), Maryvale (57.0), Springville (57.0), Dunkirk, Tonawanda (43.0), East Aurora/Holland (31.0) and CSAT (23.0).

Individual weight-class winners were: Lewiston-Porter’s Jaron Barrientos (102 pounds); Cheektowaga’s Aaron Raczka (110 pounds); Pioneer’s Daniel Kirsch (118 pounds); Pioneer’s Xander Kirsch (126 pounds); Iroquois’ Michael Schiffhauer (132 pounds); Iroquois’ Ryan Sweeney (138 pounds); Albion’s Ellwood Hafner (145 pounds); Pioneer’s Brady Heckathorn (152 pounds); Springville’s Nick Brown (160 pounds); Russo; Iroquois’ Ricky Hess (189 pounds); Iroquois’ Trevor Barry (215 pounds); and Lackawanna’s Abdulrhman Aloudt Alla (285 pounds).

JAMESTOWN TAKES EIGHTH AT CLASS AA

BUFFALO — Jamestown finished eighth with 90.0 points at the Section VI Class AA Championships on Saturday at Williamsville North High School.

Aiden Senear was the Red Raider’s top finisher after he was pinned in 13 seconds by Frontier’s Travis Browning in the 110-pound final.

Keith Miller finished third at 152 pounds, earning a 6-1 decision over Clarence’s Andrew Le.

Jamestown had three fourth-place finishers. Skylynn Tomlinson was pinned in 3:38 by Niagara Falls’ Thomas Crumpler at 102 pounds; Connor Bush lost a 9-7 decision to Lockport’s Maleah McKinney Updegraph at 110 pounds; and Caleb Bane was pinned in 1:25 by Frontier’s Drew Mascio at 285 pounds.

Tyler Zwald was sixth at 118 pounds after he dropped a 3-1 decision to Ken-Ton’s Ray Lee Smith; Hunter Meabon was sixth at 126 pounds after he was pinned in 4:35 by Ken-Ton’s Sawyer Dickinson; and Carsen Bane was sixth at 160 pounds after he lost a 4-2 decision to Clarence’s Owen Cummins.
