Westfield Prevails On Senior Night

WESTFIELD — The Westfield Wolverines defeated Salamanca in three sets, 25-16, 25-19, 25-20 for a nonleague volleyball win on their senior night.

Since becoming its own stand alone program this is the first group of seniors to start and finish as Wolverines.

“It’s just a wonderful group of kids,” Westfield head coach Greg Birner said about his seniors. “We’ve only had the program for three years and it’s the first group to come through it and they will be missed.”

Westfield’s seniors helped lead the way to victory with Bianca Seeger having four aces, seven kills and four digs; Alysia Burgess with one kill; Joy Kiswani with two digs; and Lauren Bills with one kills, two assists, one block and one dig.

“They played well together and it was nice to see them finish strong,” Birner added. “I will miss them and they were a pleasure to coach.”

Salamanca’s effort was led by Jillian Rea with five aces and four kills; Karina Crouse with three assists; Lezly McComber with four aces; Madison Hoag with one assist; and Taylor Fuller had one block.

Westfield improved to 8-9 overall with the victory while Salamanca dropped to 3-16.


FORESTVILLE — Alena Thomas had 10 kills, five blocks, two aces and two digs to lead Forestville past Silver Creek 25-23, 25-23, 22-25, 25-13 in nonleague play.

Graceann Rebmann had three kills, seven aces and four digs; Allie VanVlack had four kills, two assists, four aces and six digs; and Makayla Press had four kills, 16 assists, 10 aces and six digs for the Hornets (5-13).

Silver Creek won the jayvee match.


FORESTVILLE — Tanleigh Bestine had seven kills, 16 assists, five aces and nine digs as Westfield beat Forestville 22-25, 25-18, 25-14, 25-17 on Thursday.

Keara Kincaid added 13 kills, two assists and five aces while Sydney Hotchkiss had five kills, three aces and five digs for the Wolverines.

Makayla Press led the Hornets with 10 assists and six aces while Graceann Rebmann had four kills and two aces.

Forestville won the jayvee match.
