JCC Drops A Pair Of WNYAC Matches

ROCHESTER — Serving errors in the fourth game proved costly for Jamestown Community College suffered a 25-20, 21-25, 25-20, 20-25 9-15 loss to Monroe CC in an NJCAA Division III volleyball match Wednesday evening.

“We had some costly serving errors in the fourth game that really hurt our chance of coming back,” Jayhawks coach Ashley Lund said. “We could never get control of our serve-receive and couldn’t get the momentum we needed.”

The loss dropped Jamestown CC to 7-9 overall and 2-2 in the Western New York Athletic Conference.

Emma McCarthy led the way statistically for the Jayhawks with 21 kills, 15 digs and two blocks. Maddie Johnson added three aces, 45 assists, three kills and 23 digs; Claire Pumford collected two assists, 15 kills, 23 digs and one block; and Megan Cotter added an ace, 10 kills, 15 digs and one block.

Jamestown CC will be back in action Saturday at Tri-County CC.
