Constantino Shines In Debut For JCC Swim Team
FREDONIA — The Jamestown Community College women’s swimming & diving team opened up the 2021-22 season Saturday afternoon at Fredonia State University Tri-Meet, falling to Fredonia 184-54 and William Smith College 215-44.
The Jayhawks (0-1) were led by newcomer Kaylee Constantino (Frewsburg/Frewsburg), who had four top-five finishes on the afternoon, including two in individual events. Constantino placed third in the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 35.51 and third in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:18.64.
Veteran Tia Moppert (Gowanda/Gowanda) also had a strong day, placing in the top-five in four events, including two individual events. Moppert placed fourth in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:11.79 as well as a fourth-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:02.54.
Freshman Shannon Stein (Olean/Portville Central) had a strong first meet, placing in the top-five in three events. Stein placed fifth in the 50-yard backstroke (34.34) and in the 100-yard backstroke (1:13.59).
Jade Vidas (Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa/Parktown HS for Girls) also had three top-five finishes with two coming in individual events. Vidas placed fifth in the 50-yard butterfly (31.65) as well as fifth in the 200-yard individual medley (2:46.72).
Jenna Fiebiger (Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa/Fourways HS) had three top-five finishes with one coming in an individual event. Fiebiger placed fifth in the 50-yard butterfly with a time of 31.17.
The team of Stein, Constantino, Fiebiger and Moppert placed third in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:06.01. The team of Constantino, Fiebiger, Vidas and Moppert placed third in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:55.03.
The Jayhawks will be back in action next Saturday, Nov. 6, as they travel to Rochester for the Monroe Community College Invitational.
