Youth Football

The Westside Panthers took the field against the Dunkirk Marauders on Saturday evening and won two of three games.

The Westside squad recorded a shutout, winning 27-0.

Quarterback Jacob Piazza ran for 183 yards, scoring on runs of 70 and 72 yards. He also tossed a 2-point conversion pass to Carter Nickerson. Jada Edwards sprinted for a 50-yard touchdown and Noah Langworthy rumbled for a 3-yard score.

The JV defense saw Nickerson lead with nine tackles. Mason Charles continued his dominating style of play with seven tackles. Brandon Annis and Jaden Silliman each had four stops to round out the game.

The Panthers modified team remained undefeated with a 37-0 shutout.

Nate Sanchez blazed a trail to the end zone for a pair of touchdowns. Dominic Gonzales scooped up a fumble on a punt and returned it for a score. Jericho Thagard returned a punt 43 yards for a touchdown. Karsen Milne rumbled for a 5-yard touchdown and Markie Mescall added a 1-point conversion run.

The defense turned in a suffocating performance. Eligh DeLeone led all defenders with five tackles. Gavin Johnson, Nick Martin and Cole Anderson added four tackles apiece. The Panthers recorded six sacks. Mosiah Ramos had a pair of sacks as did DeLeone. Martin and Anderson also tallied sacks.

The Westside varsity team dropped a 14-6 decision to Dunkirk in a hard battle.

Quarterback Noah Gonzales led all runners with 120 yards and a 64-yard touchdown. Blake Swanson ran hard for 53 yards. Alaric Richards saw his first action in the backfield and had 44 yards rushing. Connor Campion continued to show his versatility, playing several positions and adding 40 yards on the ground.

Izayiah Holland played very well and recorded seven tackles. Noah Gonzales and Cole Strickland each had five tackles while Xavier Nickerson grappled four runners to the turf. Cole Meabon added three tackles.

The Panthers head across town to challenge the Northside Warriors on Saturday.
