Panama Outlasts Cougars In Marathon

PANAMA — Jo Bailey had 13 kills, seven blocks, three digs and 17 service points, including six aces, as Panama won a back-and-forth Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 2 matchup with Cassadaga Valley 24-26, 25-17, 25-12, 22-25, 25-15 on Tuesday.

Kylie Morgan had eight kills and five blocks; Sarah Harvey had six kills, 15 digs and nine service points; and Mandy Brink had a kill, 17 assists, a block, 12 digs and 15 service points, including two aces, for the Panthers (2-3, 2-1). Meadow Meredith chipped in a kill, three assists, 14 digs and 13 service points, including three aces, while Corinne Hovey had 14 digs.

Allison Wakelee had 18 assists and a kill; Shyanne Carlstrom had seven kills, a block, three digs and two aces; Madison Ring had five kills, two blocks and a dig; and Jordan Austin had five kills for the Cougars (3-1, 2-1).

T’BIRDS WIN AGAIN

MAYVILLE — Ava Olson had 11 assists, three aces and three kills as Chautauqua Lake beat Westfield 25-13, 25-11, 25-11 in Division 2 West play.

Jessica Wiemer had five kills and Hannah Group had four kills while Anyah Carson and Patem Zemcik each had three kills for the Thunderbirds (2-0). Jenna Waters chipped in 17 digs.

Keara Kincaid led the Wolverines (2-2, 1-2) with three aces, two digs, a kill and a block while Tanleigh Bestine had four digs, three assists and a kill.

Chautauqua Lake won the jayvee match.

HORNETS BEAT BROCTON

BROCTON — Makayla Press had 15 assists and five kills as Forestville topped Brocton 25-9, 22-25, 25-11, 25-12 in Division 2 West action.

Gracie Johnson had four kills and six digs; Allie VanVlack had 10 digs; and Dakota VanArsdale had five kills and three digs for the Hornets (1-2, 1-2).

Cassidy Glappa led the Bulldogs (0-3, 0-2) with five aces and three assists; Julia Miller had four kills, a block and an assist; Andrea Spiller had three kills; and Jaylyn Fred had four assists.

Forestville won the jayvee match.

TROJANS SWEEP DUNKIRK

WEST ELLICOTT — Anna Rauh had 10 kills, four digs, three blocks and two aces as Southwestern swept Dunkirk 25-6, 25-8, 25-19 in Division 1 West action.

Madeleine Dubois had five kills, three digs and an ace; Lauren Cotter had six aces, five kills, two digs and a block; and Arrington Restivo had 14 assists, four aces and a dig for the Trojans (5-0, 3-0).

The Marauders fell to 0-4 overall and 0-3 in the league.

Southwestern won the jayvee match.

HILLBILLIES FALL IN OLEAN

OLEAN — Adele Dwaileebe had seven kills, five digs and four aces as Olean topped Fredonia 25-11, 22-25, 25-14, 25-7 in Division 1 West play.

Leah Williams and Michelle Droney had five kills apiece; Logan Baer had 18 assists and four aces; and Makenna Pancio had 14 digs and four aces for the Huskies (1-2, 1-2).

“We were able to keep some pressure on Fredonia with our tough serving tonight. We had 20 aces as a team. We mixed things up and ran some different offensive plays as well,” Olean head coach Carrie Peters said. “We are getting more confident in playing a little less traditional. It’s a bit different from past years, but these girls are putting the work in to become more consistent.”

Erin Schrantz had three aces and two kills while Sarah Davis had 13 digs and an ace for the Hillbillies (0-4, 0-3).

“Fredonia hustles and communicates well,” Peters said. “They are a very young team and have the enthusiasm and heart that will take them far.”

GATORS TAKE MARATHON MATCH

ALLEGANY — Jenna Louser had 24 kills to lead Allegany-Limestone to a 25-22, 25-22, 17-25, 24-26, 25-12 victory over Falconer in Division 1 West.

Madison Callen had 11 kills and nine digs while Molly McCarthy had seven kills for the Gators (5-0, 3-0).

Emily Melquist led the Golden Falcons (2-2, 1-2) with 12 kills, 14 digs and an ace; Ava Fenton had 18 assists, eight kills, five digs, three aces and two blocks; Hannah Melquist had 10 assists, 18 digs and four aces; and Dani Krenzer had 11 kills, five digs and a block.

RED DRAGONS OUTLAST WOLVES

SHERMAN — Erin Mansfield had 30 assists, five assists and five aces as Maple Grove outlasted Clymer/Sherman for a 25-20, 25-21, 22-25, 21-25, 25-20 Division 2 West victory.

Sam Snow had nine kills and seven aces while Rachel King had seven kills, four blocks and seven aces for the Red Dragons (4-1, 3-0).

Clymer/Sherman (1-3, 0-3) was led by Hayden Fisher’s 12 aces and nine kills. Mikala Einink added 10 assists and three aces while Cora Goldberg had five aces and seven Kills.

Clymer/Sherman won the jayvee match.

RAIDERS FALL TO PORTVILLE

PORTVILLE — Jamestown fell to 1-2 on the season following a 25-10, 25-9, 25-14 loss to Portville in a Division 1 West match.

The Panthers (4-0) were led by Kylie Blessing with 32 assists and five aces; Olivia Cook with 11 kills; Tori Unverdorben with eight kills and seven digs; Ava Haynes with six kills and nine digs; and Sam Steadman with five kills and four aces.

The Red Raiders’ Hannah Grey collected eight assists, Nicole Carlson added five digs and Rylie Loomis chipped in three digs and one ace.
