Locals Shine At Knox Invite

EAST AURORA — Several local schools competed and excelled in the 2021 Section VI Knox Invitational at Knox Park in East Aurora on Saturday.

The Clymer/Sherman/Panama girls team shined in the Small School Division placing second out of 16 teams and Maple Grove followed shortly behind in third place.

For the boys, Frewsburg finished fourth out of 20 teams and Maple Grove took sixth.

The top finisher among local boys was Lukas Baer from Maple Grove finishing in fifth place with a time of 16:54.88. The top finisher among girls was also from Maple Grove as Allison Bohall finished in ninth with a time of 21:19.90.

After Baer, several local boys had top-50 finishes including Randolph’s Roan Kelly taking eighth with a time of 17:34.38 and Maple Grove’s Ben Cornell finishing in 10th with a time of 18:00.33. Following them was Fredonia’s Adam Lesch in 15th with a time of 18:16.35, Frewsburg’s Xander Pitts in 16th with a time of 18:16.48, Franklinville/Ellicottville’s Maddox Bush in 18th place with a time of 18:25 and Maple Grove’s Sean Verbosky in 19th with a time of 18:27. Frewsburg’s Toby Gifford was 24th with a time of 18:36.24, Frewsburg’s Micah Barber was 27th with a time 18:42.20, Franklinville/Ellicottville’s Grant Cornell was 30th with a time of 18:46.28, Franklinville/Ellicottville’s Cayden Hatch was 32nd with a time of 18:57, Frewsburg’s Juvenal Diaz was 39th with a time of 19:06.99, Fredonia’s Cameron Patternosh was 40th with a time of 19:10.06 and C/S/P’s Michael Raven was 48th with a time of 19:37.54.

Boys large school top-50 finishers included four Jamestown runners: Colton Cappalino in 22nd with a time of 18:14.98, Maxwell Knight in 27th with a time of 18:22.95, Jayman Morano in 46th with a time of 19:18.76 and Mason McVinney in 47th with a time of 19:19.39.

On the girls side of things the only top-10 finisher was Bohall.

After Bohall for small schools, Maple Grove’s Abby Brunanavas finished 14th with a time of 21:44.51, C/S/P’s Solk Martin-Lacayo finished 16th with a time of 21:48.09, Randolph’s Sydney Smith took 18th with a time of 21:58.18 and C/S/P’s Hannah Schauman was 20th with a time of 22:21.55. Maple Grove’s Hannah Tarbrake took 21st with a time of 22:29.67, C/S/P’s Deidre Cavness was 23rd with a time of 22:34.70, C/S/P’s Tayden Persons was 30th with a time of 22:55.95, Frewsburg’s Teghan Trocki was 31st with a time of 23:00.09, Maple Grove’s Elizabeth Lai was 35th with a time of 23:06.27, C/S/P’s Haley Odell was 36th with a 23:14.33, C/S/P’s Leighanne Swan finished 38th with a time of 23:27.34, Frewsburg’s Rylee Gore was 40th with a time of 23:31.03, Fredonia’s Julia LeBaron took 41st with a time of 23:35.48, Silver Creek’s Ava Emke was 45th with a time of 23:48.63 and Randolph’s Gracyn Rowland was 48th with a time of 24:06.48.

In the Large School Division, two Jamestown girls had top-50 finishes: Belle Johnson in 21st with a time of 21:55.73 and Myah Crossley in 48th with a time of 24:36.01.
