Falconer Schools, JBA Lead YMCA Battle Of The Businesses

After Wednesday’s predicted mile race at Falconer Central School and the curling event at the Northwest Arena, Falconer Central School controls the lead in the Large Division with 825 points. Jamestown Bar Association/City Court captures the top Small Division spot with 650 points in the YMCA’s 33rd annual Battle of the Businesses.

For the predicted mile walk in the Large Division, Titan X Engine Cooling’s teammates Denise Herud, Angela Ricotta, Enrique Pinedo and Bruno Jouannet had the least difference of 9 seconds to gain the first-place win.

Second- and third-place spots went to Bush Industries and Chautauqua County Government.

In the Small Division predicted mile race, first place went to Rand Precision Machining, which also finished within 9 seconds of its predicted time. The winning squad included Rich Hinson, Charity Crossley, Cliff Sleasman and Jackie Chitester. JBA and Greater Chautauqua Federal Credit Union finished in second and third place, respectively.

In the Small Division curling event at Northwest Arena, Chautauqua Hospice and Palliative Care earned first place in the final game 15-14 against GCFCU. Teammates included team captain Zach Agett, Phil Lawrie, Michelle Salisbury and BJ Buonaiuto. Third-place honors were taken by JBA.

The Battle of the Businesses continues this evening with four events — Scrabble, Texas Hold’em poker tournament, pickleball and Shoot’n Score soccer — at the Lakewood YMCA starting at 6 p.m. Participants are reminded to wear their team Battle shirts.
