RUSSELL, Pa. — On Aug. 14 at Blueberry Hill Golf Club the eighth annual Scandia Mountain Open was held.

This event is organized and was created by Elk Township resident Tim Conklin of Conklin Restoration Services. Each year Conklin is assisted by Melody Ruhlander in making the tournament a success.

The proceeds from the event benefit the Scandia Volunteer Fire Department. Gross profit for the event was almost $18,000 with around $16,000 going to the department after expenses were paid.

Jim Heslin of Key West, Florida graciously donated a six-night stay at Secret Villa of Key West (VRBO #754594) which was raffled off and contributed $9,000 to the net profit. Golfers who participated received a share of $5,000 in prize money.

The Scratch Division champion team consisted of Nick Giambrone, Tony Pellegrino, Anthony Pellegrino and Jerry Bancroft. Mixed Division winners were Rachel Wilson, Terry Wilson, Lori Eaton and Rick Eaton. Lastly, Dale Shaffer, Mike Jewart, Todd Sanford and Dave Sheldon captured the Net Division.
