LAKEWOOD — The Lakewood YMCA recently hosted the Summer Sizzler Pickleball Tournament, sponsored by Greater Chautauqua Federal Credit Union and Piazza Carpet One.

The two-day tournament hosted five divisions of play.

On Saturday in Men’s 3.5 Doubles play, Lakewood’s own Steve Lundin and Jim Arcoraci took first place. Mike Kochel and Paul Laurie who took second followed by Jim Brotz and Gregory Smith.

The night ended smoothly with 3.5 Mixed Doubles. Myra Morgan and Paul Burek took gold followed the mother-son duo of Amy Watson and her 12-year-old son Carter. Valerie Douglas and Justin Dix took third.

Steve Bittinger and John Paway won the Men’s 4.0 Doubles tournament Sunday morning followed by Jim Arcoraci and Steve Lundin. Robbie and Robert Sontheimer were third.

In Women’s Double play, Amy Watson and Marlene Sandberg took first place. Jeanne Kazley and Jeanne Whipple were second followed by Penny Hite and Michele Ognibene.

On Sunday evening in 4.0 Mixed Doubles action, Michele Ognibene and Steve Lundin took first place followed by Marlene Sandberg and Steve Bittinger. Jeaneane and Steve Kazley took third.
