Tarp Skunks Hit Their Way Past Power

The Jamestown Tarp Skunks pounded out 13 hits, and scored four runs in both the third and seventh innings en route to a 9-2 victory over Niagara in a Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League game at Diethrick Park on Tuesday night.

The victory raised the Tarp Skunks’ record to 11-6, while the Power fell to 5-10.

Haiden Hunt and Padraig O’Shaughnessy (double) both had three hits for Jamestown. O’Shaughnessy also drove in four runs. That was more than enough offense for winning pitcher Cade Swenson, who worked into the sixth inning and surrendered two runs on four hits, struck out three and walked two. His ERA now stands at 1.56. Charlie Nichols finished the game on the hill, allowing just one hit, striking out three and walking one.

Danny Hosley added a pair of hits for the winners, who travel to Geneva tonight.

Emilio Flores took the loss for Niagara. Noah Marcelo and Ethan Payne both had two hits for the Power.
