DELCAMP HOMERS THURSDAY

FREDONIA — Freshman Ashlynn Delcamp hit her first home run to give Fredonia a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning en route to a 5-2 Division 1 West victory over Allegany-Limestone on Thursday.

“It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a girl hit a softball that far,” Fredonia head coach Jesse Beers said. “It wasn’t a towering fly ball. It was a line drive.”

Hallie Laurito reached and scored on a hit-and-run when Erin Schrantz doubled down the right-field line later in the fourth.

The Gators tied the game in the top of the fifth inning before the Hillbillies (13-1, 11-1) put the game away in the bottom of the frame. Maddy Marsh reached on an infield single and stole second before Lila Cameron’s RBI single. Cameron then stole second and scored on Nevaeh Zadzilka’s RBI single. Delcamp followed with another RBI single.

Marissa Cash struck out six and walked one in a six-hitter in the circle for Fredonia.
