Golden Cougars Win 10th Straight D1 Wrestling Title

FREDONIA — Ten and counting.

The Falconer/Cassadaga Valley wrestling team claimed its 10th straight Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 wrestling title Tuesday, downing Fredonia, 54-17.

“It goes to show that with some hard work anything is possible,” Golden Cougars coach Drew Wilcox said. “We’ve had some really good kids over the years who have bought into the system and it’s paid off.”

Jacob Clark (138), Austin Chase (152), Brodie Little (172), Brock Johnson (215) all recorded pins for Falconer/Cassadaga Valley, while teammates Joey Pillittieri (160) and Brayden Newman (126) won via technical fall and major decision respectively.

For the Hillbillies, Ceric Kristan recorded a pin at 189, Mike Ball prevailed via technical fall at 102, and David Ball registered a pin at 118.
