Fredonia In Position To Claim Another Tennis Crown

FREDONIA — Jackson Spangler and Trevor Napoli won their singles matches as Fredonia beat Maple Grove 4-1 in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association West Division tennis Monday.

The Hillbillies (10-1) have to beat Cassadaga Valley today to share the league title with the Red Dragons. Fredonia has won the past three league titles, losing just one league match the past four seasons.

Spangler, a seventh-grader, and Napoli, a senior, remained undefeated on the season.

Tim Davis teamed up with Mike Berg and Ryan Davis teamed up with Ethan Klemann to win doubles matches for the Hillbillies.

Porter DeMink won at first singles for Maple Grove.

OLEAN SWEEPS JAMESTOWN

OLEAN — Mark Brown, Maxwell Bee and Alex Blehar won singles matches as Olean swept Jamestown 5-0 in the East Division.

Cavan Boutillette teamed up with Alex Linderman to win at first doubles while Aaron Aiello and Maxwell Wolfe won at second doubles for the Huskies (9-0).

The Red Raiders (6-1) suffered their first defeat.

Matthew Lefler and Brooks Turcotte won at first doubles for the Trojans (6-2, 5-1).

The Warriors fell to 1-3-1.
