Burchanowski Hits Walk-Off Single For Wolfpack

CLYMER — Derek Sears was hit by a pitch and scored on Trent Burchanowski’s RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning as Clymer/Sherman/Panama completed a perfect regular season with a 12-11 Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 2 West victory over Frewsburg.

The Wolfpack (10-0, 10-0) led 6-2 after three innings and 9-8 after six innings before the Bears (8-8, 5-5) tied the game in the top of the seventh. Joel McLaughlin walked with one out and was replaced by pinch-runner Bobby Wiltsie. Jack Yost then walked before Draven DeJesus singled to center to plate Wiltsie with the tying run.

Frewsburg took an 11-9 lead in the eighth when Payton Dustin reached on an error and scored on Trent Bjork’s RBI double before McLaughlin’s two-out single plated Bjork.

C/S/P answered in the bottom of the frame. Burchanowski reached on an error and Matt White singled before Kurtis Olsen hit a two-run double to tie the game.

Gabe Roth hit a grand slam in the second inning for the Wolfpack. Sears and Burchanowski each had three hits while Olsen and Austin White each had two.

Bjork had three hits, Yost had two (double) and Traden Gray had a double for Frewsburg.

HUNT SHINES ON MOUND, AT PLATE FOR PANTHERS

SOUTH DAYTON — David Hunt threw a five-hitter with seven strikeouts and five walks while also going 2 for 3 at the plate as Pine Valley beat nonleague Chautauqua Lake 5-2.

Kalen Miller hit an RBI double in the first inning to give the Thunderbirds a 1-0 lead before the Panthers scored two in the bottom of the first inning. Travis West hit an RBI double to plate Donovan Guglielmi and Cameron Hayes hit an RBI single to score West.

Chautauqua Lake tied the game in the second on a Luke Waters RBI single.

Pine Valley added two runs in the fourth when Bryce Sercu hit an RBI triple to score Brendan Butcher. Sercu was eventually thrown out at the plate on a fielder’s choice, but Sam Hunt later hit an RBI single.

The Panthers scored their last run in the fifth inning when Butcher hit an RBI single to score George Kruszka.

West finished 3 for 3 with a walk.

Waters was 2 for 3 with a walk while combining with Nate Engdahl and Jaylen Parkhurst for 10 strikeouts on the mound.

MARSH HOMERS

FOR EAGLES

ELLICOTTVILLE — Lucas Marsh hit a two-run home run during a nine-run second inning and Ellicottville beat Cattaraugus-Little Valley 15-2 in Division 1 East play.

Braedyn Palmatier added a two-run double during the second inning and Nathan Ploetz had a two-run double during the third inning for the Eagles, who led 15-0 at that point.

Marsh finished with two hits, three RBIs and two runs scored; Wyatt Chudy had two hits, an RBI and three runs scored; Ryan Dekay had two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored; and Palmatier had two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored.

Marsh also threw a three-hitter with eight strikeouts.

Nick Savidge, Ryan Harper and Kodi Colton each singled for the Timberwolves.

RED DRAGONS SCORE 20

BEMUS POINT — Jackson Gowan’s first-inning solo home run to right-center field jump-started Maple Grove’s offense in a 20-2 five-inning Division 2 West victory over Cassadaga Valley.

Gowan finished 3 for 5, Jake Vaillancourt was 4 for 5 with a double, Tristan Loomis was 2 for 3, Connor Reagle was 2 for 2 with a double, Kynan Egan was 2 for 2 with a triple and Ryan Samuelson doubled for the Red Dragons (8-2, 8-2), who scored seven runs in both the second and fourth innings.

Gowan and Loomis combined for six strikeouts on the mound.

Nick Russo had two doubles while Braden LeBaron also doubled for the Cougars (2-11, 1-9).
