Big Fourth Inning Sends Fredonia Past Olean

OLEAN — Kyleigh Waterman hit a two-run double during a seven-run fourth inning as Fredonia beat Olean 14-6 in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 West softball action Thursday.

Waterman went 4 for 5 with two doubles; Jordan Lucas was 2 for 3 with a double; and Nevaeh Zadzilka was 2 for 5.

The Hillbillies (11-1, 9-1) led 1-0 heading into the fourth inning before picking up four hits and a pair of walks in the frame.

Ashlynn Delcamp then hit a pinch-hit two-run double in the fifth inning to make it 11-0 before the Huskies rallied.

“Up 11-0, it’s kind of hard to keep your focus,” Fredonia head coach Jesse Beers said. “We had a few errors in the field.”

Maddy Marsh struck out three and walked one in an eight-hitter.

T’BIRDS

DOUBLE UP COUGARS

MAYVILLE — Cayzlee Johnson threw a complete-game five-hitter with 11 strikeouts and one walk as Chautauqua Lake topped Cassadaga Valley 8-4 in Division 2 West play.

Hannah Bretz doubled and scored on a Hannah Weise double in the first inning for the Thunderbirds.

In the third inning, the top five hitters in Chautauqua Lake’s lineup all had hits during a five-run inning.

The Cougars made it 6-3 in the fifth inning before the Thunderbirds put the game away with a two-run sixth inning.

Lucy Gates was 4 for 4 with a triple and two doubles while Weise was also 4 for 4 with two doubles for Chautauqua Lake. Jenna Waters, Olivia Herrington, Bretz and Mallory Morrison added two hits apiece.

Cassadaga Valley’s Grace Warsitz had two singles while Jocelyn Faulkner, Kaylee Pattyson, and Payton Allessi each had a single.

BLACK KNIGHTS TOP HORNETS

FORESTVILLE — Silver Creek edged out Forestville 7-4 in Central Division play.

Kaylee Hutchison was in the circle for Silver Creek earning the win. Hutchison struck out nine, walked one and gave up four runs on 10 hits.

Forestville’s Alexis Alguire struck out nine, walked one and surrendered seven runs on eight hits in the loss.

Stevie Cook led the way offensively for the Black Knights as she went 2 for 4 with a double and two runs scored. Bailey Watroba added another 2-for-4 performance with a double and a run for the Black Knights.

Forestville’s Lauryn Pierce went 2 for 3 with two doubles; Dakota VanArsdale went 2 for 4 and scored two runs; and Madison Sliwinski went 2 for 4.

BULLDOGS COAST

BROCTON — Christine Wdowiasz threw seven innings allowing only three hits and two earned runs as Brocton beat Pine Valley 14-6 in Central Division action.

Angie Rexford led the Bulldogs with two hits, including a double, an RBI and three stolen bases. Chyanne Whitaker and Julia Miller each had two-run doubles during the bottom of the second inning to break open the game. Lauren Stresing contributed a double and two stolen bases.

Haleigha Hardy, Lyric Westlund and Trista Farnham shared mound duties for Pine Valley with five strikeouts and seven walks. Mattison Cadle hit a two-run double.

FALCONER HITS

THREE TRIPLES

FALCONER — Kayla Lynn, Courtnee Peterson and Emily Melquist all tripled during Falconer’s 9-5 Division 1 West win over Southwestern.

Nicole Youngberg, Ashton Beckerink, Tess Spangenburg, and Emily Melqiust all had RBIs for the Golden Falcons.

Kayla Lynn and Ashton Beckerink combined for the win in the circle.

For Southwestern, Madison Cresanti went 3 for 4, Kylee Dibble went 2 for 4 with a double, and Ella White went 2 for 4.

DELLOW HURLS THREE-HITTER

PANAMA — Haleigh Dellow threw a three-hitter with 10 strikeouts, three walks and two hit batters as Westfield beat Panama 6-3.

Casey Black had an RBI triple, Dellow had a double and Aysia Burgess chipped in a single for the Wolverines.

Ashlyn Harvey was the losing pitcher with 12 strikeouts and three walks in a three-hitter. Harvey, Marra Hovey and Kylie Morgan each had a single.

GATORS BREEZE

IN JAMESTOWN

Allegany-Limestone (3-11) made quick work of Jamestown (0-10) 18-3 in five innings of Division 1 West action.

Kortney Magara was in the circle for the Gators earning the win while Lindsey Spitz pitched for the Red Raiders.

Jamestown’s offensive effort was led by Kylie O’Brien with two singles and a run scored; Herivette Dejesus-Colon added a triple and a run scored; and Aubrey Reynolds pitched in with a double.

Allegany-Limestone’s Devin Ralston scored four runs.
