YORKSHIRE — Fredonia had two individual champions and Falconer/Cassadaga Valley had one at Saturday’s Section VI Division 2 Wrestling Championships at Pioneer High School.

David Ball (110 pounds) and Ceric Kristan (189) claimed titles for the Hillbillies, who finished fifth as a team, while Brock Johnson (215) brought home a title for the Golden Cougars, who placed second in the team standings.

Ball decisioned Jordan Joslyn of Chautauqua Lake, 6-5, in the final; Kristan edged James Marshall of Lewiston-Porter, 3-2; and Johnson held off Connor Walsh of Olean, 7-5.

Other second-place finishers among area wrestlers were Garrett Swan of Southwestern, who fell to Andrew Lucinski in the title match at 132 pounds; Luke Tomlinson of Maple Grove, who lost to Kameron Riordan of Pioneer by major decision, 9-0, at 138 pounds; Joey Pillittieri of Falconer/Cassadaga Valley, who fell to Shane Walczyk of Eden, 7-5, at 145 pounds; and Collin Beichner of Falconer/Cassadaga Valley, who suffered a 3-1 setback to Charles Larose of Newfane at 285 pounds.

Placing third among area wrestlers were Mike Ball of Fredonia, who pinned Carmine Calimeri of Southwestern in 54 seconds at 102 pounds in the consolation final; Brayden Newman of Falconer/Cassadaga Valley, who won via fall at 2:54 over Peter Gaglio of Iroquois at 118 pounds; Hunter Harris of Chautauqua Lake, who decisioned teammate Martin Ohlsson, 2-0, at 126 pounds; Austin Chase of Falconer/Cassadaga Valley, who pinned Konner Spring of Salamanca at 2:16 at 132 pounds; Jacob Clark of Falconer/Cassadaga Valley, who decisioned Amilcar Morales of Albion, 8-6, at 138 pounds; and Everett Leonard of Franklinville, who posted a 10-2 major decision over Tristan DeGrace of Iroquois at 152 pounds.

The other local fourth-place finishers included Brendon Ramsey of Chautauqua Lake at 145 pounds; Hunter Larson of Fredonia at 172 pounds; Zach Padd of Maple Grove at 215 pounds; and Devin Bialaszewski of Salamanca at 285 pounds.
